Eureka Businesses Pass Underage Alcohol Sting — But the Warning Still Stands
Press release from the Eureka Police Department:
On April 10, 2026, the Eureka Police Department conducted a Minor Decoy Operation. Funding for this program was provided through a grant from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) as part of the Department’s Alcohol Policing Partnership Program.
During the operation, a total of 20 businesses were contacted. No businesses sold alcohol to the minor decoy.
The Eureka Police Department would like to remind the community that clerks who sell alcohol to a minor may face a minimum fine of $250 and be required to complete 24 to 32 hours of community service for a first violation. Additionally, ABC may take administrative action against the alcoholic beverage license of the business involved. These actions can include fines, suspension, or permanent revocation of the license.
Businesses are strongly encouraged to check identification carefully before completing alcohol sales. Operations such as these are conducted to reduce underage drinking and enhance overall public safety.

Did they hit any weed stores?
They wouldn’t bother doing this much if the ABC wasn’t footing the bill.
