Driver Trapped After Solo Crash Into Embankment on Highway 101 North of Hopland
A solo vehicle crashed at about 8:44 p.m. near the McNab Ranch on Highway 101 near mile marker 15.80 in Mendocino County, according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page and reports over the scanner.
The reporting party told dispatchers they were unsure what led up to the crash but saw the vehicle begin to roll before striking an embankment.
The vehicle, described as a black Honda four-door sedan, came to rest on its wheels. The car is reportedly partially blocking an oncoming traffic lane. It has major front end damage, according to an officer at the incident.
At approximately 8:46 p.m., updates indicated a male party inside the vehicle was waking up but remained trapped. Emergency responders were en route, and a request was made to notify Howard Memorial Hospital.
By 8:48 p.m., an officer on scene reported the sedan sustained major front-end damage.
The extent of the driver’s injuries is unknown at this time, he is reporting he is uninjured but an ambulance is responding.

I’ve been taught to never say “no, I’m fine” after a crash even if you feel fine; injuries can manifest hours or days later, complicating the legal and financial aspects.
Why would the injured person be taken to Howard hospital and not Ukiah hospital?
That’s a good question but I don’t know the answer.
