[Update] Vehicle Reported Upside Down in Creek After Crash on Tompkins Hill Road

Heavy rainfall continues to impact travel across the North Coast. Just before 4 p.m., emergency crews responded to a traffic collision on Tompkins Hill Road after a vehicle was reported upside down in a creek.

According to incident logs, the crash was reported Tuesday afternoon near the 7000 block of Tompkins Hill Road, just south of Braun Road. Initial details indicated a vehicle had overturned and was “upside down in creek.”

Scanner traffic indicated that all occupants were able to self-extricate from the vehicle. The extent of injuries, if any, was not immediately clear.

Motorists traveling along Tompkins Hill Road are advised to use caution in the area as responders work at the scene.

This incident is developing, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.

Update 4:18 p.m.: CHP has reclassified the Tompkins Hill Road crash as a minor injury traffic collision. The vehicle is described as a four-door Honda sedan that rolled over and came to rest approximately 10 feet off the roadway into an embankment. Logs indicate the driver was out of the vehicle following the crash.

Update: According to the CHP cad, Humboldt Towing handled the vehicle removal, and the incident was closed.
