How do you have an unknown VIN? File it off?

Guess someone realized that insurance and gas for the thing was too much. Or it could’ve been a crime scene.

Unknown means exactly that. It has a vin, they just haven’t scraped off enough hot ash to see it yet. Every vehicle on the road has an unknown VIN….. Until you look.

Most vehicles have more than one VIN on them. I am sure the fire melted the dash VIN number (usually just aluminum) and burned of the door jamb VIN number. They can be stamped into the frame of the vehicle or located in the trunk.

Lack of license plates usually means two things, if it was just purchased and the owner has not received the plates yet, or the vehicle was stolen. The VIN numbers were destroyed in the fire, but a VIN is usually stamped on the frame. Generally, the CHP know where to locate the frame number.

That area seems to be a dumping ground for retired RV’s. I believe it has surveillance cameras.

IMHO:

Classic Trimmer stuff.
Used to be very common… and still is.

Steal Vehicle.
Use.
Breaks down or Leaving area.
Important: Stuff vehicle with garbage.
Optional: Set Ablaze.

Ammon Ridge Road. Abandoned along a spawning creek.
Nobody had torched them (yet).

IMHO:

Scrapped cars/garbage have been there a year.
(Last time I visited was about November).

Just wonder where the DFW is ? Aren’t they supposed to be protecting the watersheds ?
Also wonder where the USFS LEO’s are ? Maybe they need more grant money ?

Go figure.

What? The vehicle is located on the Mahan Plaque Trail? Nooooo… how could it get on that trail? The Mahan Plaque Trail takes off from the guided trail loop at Founders Grove. You couldn’t drive an RV on that route; I’ve walked it many times. There is a connection from the Plaque trail to the Avenue of the Giants and there’s — if I remember correctly — a pullout on the Avenue at the head of that trail, so OK, maybe they could drive in that way — but still ?? There’s a lot more to this story.

Whould be nice if the state would make it easier to get cars hauled off. Even if its illegally on your property it cost over 400
