Prescribed Burning Planned Near Orick and Kneeland Today

Weather conditions permitting, Green Diamond Resource Company plans to conduct prescribed burning for fuel hazard reduction today, Friday February 13th, 2026, in multiple locations across the ownership. Green Diamond will be conducting burning in the Bald Hills along Johnson Road approximately 7 miles southeast of the town of Orick and in the Ah Pah Creek drainages approximately 8 miles northeast of the town of Orick. Burning will also be conducted in the Snow Camp Mountain area, 8 miles northeast of the Kneeland airport. Burning operations are implemented in coordination with CAL FIRE and North Coast Unified Air Quality Management District. Please note that smoke may be visible in surrounding areas, including the towns of Orick and Klamath, while prescribed burning activities are being conducted. Green Diamond staff will be onsite monitoring prescribed burning and fuels reduction operations.

It seems to be a little dry for these prescribed burns. I hope they have enough equipment to put it out if it starts spreading. A little rain in a day or so is coming and would make a safer time to burn.
