[Update: Final Acreage 8.35 Acres] Fire Erupts East of Hayfork, Sheriff’s Office Issues Evacuation Warnings

Fire personnel were dispatched to the report of a vegetation fire in the Hayfork area after smoke was visible on the Alert California system that monitors for fire activity throughout the state. The Trinity County fire, now dubbed the Barker Fire, is east of Hayfork off Highway 3 near Barker Valley Road.
Originally estimated by ground resources on scene as 2-3 acres with a moderate rate of spread, per Watch Duty, Air Attack 240 updated that estimate to be 3-5 acres in size with structures threatened. Tankers 90 and 91, along with the Chinook Helicopter N258PJ are assisting with the Barker Fire suppression efforts.
The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office issued evacuation warnings for zones HFK-318, HFK-319, HFK-320, and HFK-321. To know your zone, visit protect.genasys.com for the latest evacuation information.

Update 1:28 p.m.: The Trinity County Sheriff’s Department has escalated an evacuation warning to an evacuation order for Zone HFK-320 due to the Barker Fire. The order cites an immediate threat to life, directing residents to leave the area now. The zone is closed to public access.

Update 1:37 p.m.: Scanner traffic indicates the Barker Fire is holding at 8 acres within dozer lines. Speaking to dispatch, the incident commander relayed that crews have mitigated the structure threat.
The earlier request for Humboldt resources is being canceled.
Update 2:50 p.m.: According to scanner traffic, forward progress has been stopped on the Barker Fire. The total acreage is estimated at 8.35 acres. A fire prevention specialist was en route to the fire to investigate the cause of the blaze.
All evacuation warnings and orders have been lifted.
