A fire broke out east of Junction City this afternoon, south of Highway 299 off Sky Ranch Road, about 2:50 p.m. Crews responded quickly, with CAL FIRE’s Air Attack circling overhead and Copter 611 dispatched from Humboldt County to assist.

Ground crews stretched hose around the fire, and by 3:20 p.m. they had stopped the forward rate of spread.

No structures have been reported damaged, and there have been no evacuation orders. Aircraft and engines remain in the area to  mop up hotspots.
