In May, the Humboldt County Grand Jury released a report on the Department of Aviation. In light of the second Director of Aviation resigning abruptly in the last year, they are bringing new attention to the report (see below) and their recommendation that the County should hire “Managers with strong backgrounds in airport management.”

What??? They think hiring someone with experience in airport management will make a difference???
Who came up with that idea?
Sounds kinda reckless to me. Why break tradition?
Keep it in the good old boys group.

At least “good old boys” know what Humboldt Country is and don’t run away in horror as soon as they find out. The problem is finding someone who knows what Humboldt Co is, knows its nature and both in airport management and private enterprise. Private enterprise is denigrated here, frequently by people who talk about “good old guys.”

The last guy was experienced. He left abruptly. No explanation form county BOS. Real transparency there. Probably a big scandal.

All i know now is the parking is $20 a day. Like all the other airports.

It’s free at the Redding airport, for the first four hours. So dropping off someone, or picking them up, is free.

Well, it always pays to hire the most qualified applicant…

Losing two in a year shows a lack of ability to judge talent, and, a deficit of acumen in leadership…

The whole “Avelo Debacle” proves my point…

Well, maybe nobody flies in and out of Humboldt Commercially, but business is business…

Maybe you all just don’t understand how to do this at all… But at least you have a very expensive parking lot…

Strong backgrounds? Like head of the Arabian horse association? Good ole boys hire their cousins, friends, brother in law. Not competent people.

All I can say about this is that I have told the HC Supervisors this for at least thirty years and that has been ignored.
FAA compliant:Pilot/A&P/IA/AME/AE

I would have had more conversation by talking to a rock.
