McKinleyville Music in the Park Closes 2025 Season on August 21st with Makenu at Pierson Park

After a summer of packed lawns, picnic blankets, and easy evenings at the park, McKinleyville’s Music in the Park series wraps its 2025 season this Thursday, August 21, with Makenu bringing the finale to Pierson Park.

“This series is about neighbors bumping into neighbors—and the simple joy of a summer night in the park,” said Jesse Miles, Executive Director of the McKinleyville Chamber of Commerce. “The community showed up all season long. Let’s finish strong together on Thursday.”

The season has been a clear win for local families, small businesses, and visitors—steady crowds, smiling kids, and plenty of dinner-from-a-food-truck moments. The finale keeps the full park experience intact: food trucks, beer booth, lawn games, a Girl Scout climbing wall, local vendors, and skate ramps—plus the best part of all: the community. As well as for non-profits – the McKinleyville Chamber has been able to donate over $800 worth of tips this summer from the beer booth to our non-profit partners, in addition to the money and awareness they raised at their booths each week.

Bring a blanket or chairs, grab dinner in the park, and let the kids run off that first-day-of-school energy while Makenu sets the groove.
