[Update] Ukiah Library Evacuated After Gas Leak Reported

Around 1:45 p.m. on Friday, July 11, scanner traffic indicate the Main Branch of the Mendocino County Library located on North Main Street in Ukiah was evacuated.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene, reporting a gas leak occurred.

At 1:55 p.m., the Ukiah Police Department issued and advisory to avoid a two-block radius of 105 Main Street (the library location) due to a gas leak.

Please avoid the area and watch for emergency and utility personnel as they arrive on scene.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

Update: At 3:20 p.m. today, the following post was published on the library’s Facebook page, “Due to an emergency, Ukiah Branch Library is closed until further notice. Please do not bring any items for return until the library reopens. Thank you.”
