[Update: Contained] Poor Fire Sparks East of Covelo, Rapid Response Keeps It Small—for Now

Just before 2 p.m. today, fire personnel were dispatched to the 28000 block of Mendocino Pass Road east of Covelo for the report of a vegetation fire. A full wildland fire response was initiated.

According to scanner traffic, the first unit on scene reported the fire, dubbed the Poor Fire, was approximately 20 x 20 feet in size, burning at a slow rate of spread in grass. Air support was cancelled as well as other resources. One engine was continued.

Update 5:10 p.m.: According to CAL FIRE Mendocino’s Sherri Wise, the Poor Fire was contained at .8 acres.
