[UPDATE 3:50 p.m. Protesters Block Streets in Eureka During Nationwide “No Kings” Rally Against Authoritarianism

Traffic is significantly impacted in downtown Eureka this afternoon as demonstrators participating in a nationwide anti-authoritarian protest have taken to the streets. A group of protesters is currently blocking 5th Street near the Humboldt County Courthouse, while others are moving toward Old Town, contributing to growing congestion on 4th, 5th, and 7th streets. Caltrans QuickMap shows heavy traffic in multiple sections of the city’s core.

The demonstration began at 11 a.m. today in Madaket Square as part of the “No Kings” rally, a coordinated day of protest with over 2,000 similar events nationwide and more than 200 across California.

According to organizers, today’s event includes a range of artistic and political performances: a flash mob choir, breakdancing by Humboldt Rockers, community speakers, a group demonstration identifying “signs of fascism,” and a satirical anti-Trump performance. Participants began a sidewalk march from Madaket Square to the courthouse following the performances.

A press release from the group stated, “As part of a National Day of Action, Humboldt Democracy Connections is organizing a rally and sidewalk march to demonstrate our community’s opposition to authoritarianism.” The release encouraged both supporters and media to attend the event.

Authorities have not yet issued any statements regarding traffic diversions or possible citations that we are aware of.

UPDATE 3:50 p.m.: The roads are now clear. EPD Chief Stephens said there were no  protest related arrests. He said that there were some traffic citations issued to drivers who were traveling unsafely through the demonstration.  He believes that there were approximately 4000 people at the demonstration. He said there were too many people and not enough sidewalk so they had to shut down 5th for several blocks to provide room for the large numbers who showed up. In addition, he said there did not appear to be any counter protestors.

“Stupid is as stupid does.”

What was advertised as a rally and “sidewalk march to demonstrate our community’s opposition to authoritarianism” instead became the authoritarian takeover of the streets, selfishly holding people hostage who were just trying to go about their lives.

That’s not a tactic likely to win friends and influence people.

The idiots in charge must be the same morons who converted the protests at CPH into a building takeover and vandalism spree.

As the crowd grew I was worried that people would take over Fifth Street and things would get ugly. Eventually the crowd did surge into Fifth. But EPD made the right compromise and routed traffic onto 7th. The closure didn’t actually last long, and traffic was hardly disrupted. Kudos to the cops and decision makers for keeping the peace.

Exactly right. There was a brief blockage of traffic that was soon resolved. Now the local Trump cult is trying to equate today’s Eureka protest with the coup attempt of January 6 to assuage their massive guilt and culpability in attacking our United States. Trying to slime out of responsibility.
Spoiler alert: Not going to work.

Thankfully us taxpayers paid for extra police force today and road workers for this event. And everyone on the road was willing to burn extra fuel costing them money just to go around this event. I think all protesters need to thank all commuters trying to get to there destinations but took time and money out of there day without protesters even asking. What a selfish crowd protesters are, just gross.

You had your peaceful protest in the most freedom loving country in the world. No one shot you for the obscenities on signs about our non-existent king. No one stopped you from doing anything as long as it was peaceful. So, do you get the irony that you were peacefully protesting because our country allows that and this administration is all for peaceful assembly. The operative word being “peaceful” i.e. no guns, molotov cocktails, rocks for throwing at law enforcement or anyone else, etc. I wouldn’t expect a protest in Eureka to be anything but peaceful. We are all Americans. We are allowed freedom of thought.

Pandering and feckless made an irresponsible decision to compromise on the blocking of US Highway 101. Block the road and go to jail. No exceptions to that law! What road or neighborhood will EPD give away next to the terrorists…

The right of the people to not be blocked in and trapped in their vehicle by “our democracy” protestors shall not be abridged.

None of these protestors should ever go to Florida and attempt the same thing. The outcome is bleak for those blocking roads while harassing trapped vehicles.

I was there and I never saw vehicles harassed. There was some slow-downs but no personal attacks. Absolutely nothing like Jan. 6, 2021 where Trump Traitors attacked police and anybody else in their way, at the behest of Traitor Trump himself.

Same here. I saw nobody trapped or annoyed in their car. Remember, Trumpers are desperately trying to equate their barbarous and autocratic behavior with all the rest of us. It’s their way of rationalizing the evil of Jan-6 and the lunacy of Trump that gets worse every day. All Republicans OUT on the mid-terms unless there is repentance that we believe, maybe. REPUBLICANS OUT

Massive protests in Florida today, and in every state ding dong. Take a look around sometime. Imagine being such a tool that you equate a traffic diversion of 50 yards to a crime against the constitution. Sorry for your inconvenience bub. The kids and grandmas there today protesting for freedom and democracy are just thankful you didn’t try and run anyone over.

Actually, if you look at the pictures, you’ll see that the police have the street blocked off several blocks before the courthouse.
Protesters filled the street because the police had closed it off to traffic.

Exactly they would not have had to block the street if the protestors had stay on the sidewalk. I have no problem with peaceful protests. Just pick a spot that won’t block traffic and people from doing their normal business. Had they stayed in old town where there is a lot of room it would not have been an issue.

Oh no -once they closed off 101 for that stretch I cracked up because literally, then the protesters could yell and wave flags at each other from across the street😆 perfeect! .

But what do you think they did then? They meandered over en masse to 4th and 7th- and caused a theatric f****** slow downs there… That entire six block by six block area is an attention seeking cluster f*** rn.

They’re obviously out of control and don’t understand what peaceful protest means; you don’t get to impede traffic dumbass!

And can someone please tell me what is the point ?? How is yelling at traffic going to change anything? How? Name one way. It’s not like there’s a need for dialogue or awareness that’s already happening we get it : orange bad. Lol

…..and eery sign is different from the relatable to the absurd, there is no unified message on the left it’s just cacophony and disruption.

Go home.

You and I perhaps because we’ve probably done it 1000 times. But I would not speak for other drivers, especially those from out of the area. Have you seen how some of them handle the more open stretches of 101 daily?

The turn from B’way to 5th is much more open than trying to go from 7th onto Myrtle back towards 101. Speed is the problem on Broadway. Just making the turn without taking out street signs or blocking the whole road on Myrtle is another. Here’s your intersections.

i do object to morons blocking public streets, holding drivers hostage, destroying property, etcetera.

It would not be in any way a stretch of the imagination to postulate and/ or conclude that…

“Some of these people are being paid to protest”…

due to the fact that some of them could very well be welfare recipients, and/or, are otherwise, “on the dole”…

Therefore, as they protest…

“..the Democrats in government are paying for them…”

…through their Liberal Democrat policies of liberal welfare and other liberal handouts like “student loan forgiveness”, “Food Assistance”, “Obama Phones”, rent assistance, Medical, research grants, etc…

Not only that, but I would speculate that many others at this protest are, and/or previously were, financially supported by Liberal Democrat financial grants and/or other types of public funding that has been, and/or they fear will be, or have been, terminated under President Trump…

Is there really any disputing that…???

Is “proof” really necessary…???

That is actually what many of them could very well be MOST against…

It’s their government funded way of life that is being closely scrutinized for funding cuts…

It’s entirely unsurprising and totally predictable that they would be vociferously objecting to it…

But that has NOTHING to do with the US Constitution, rights, or “Monarchy”…

So, for many of these protesters, I would conclude that their protesting is less about preserving and protecting freedom and democracy itself, and more about just preserving the ongoing “issue” of their free “bread and butter”…

They are primarily protesting against any alteration and/or cessation of the overly entitled way of life that they have grown overly accustomed to…

For some of them, this “protest” is just a “Stroll on the Dole”…

Come on, Kym, what is your estimate of just exactly how many of these protesters are on MediCal, Welfare, Section 8, and/or are otherwise Liberally government funded, and/or while are also “marching around” on State Disability…???

The Democrat State of California is undoubtedly paying many of these people, if not TO protest, then certainly, AS they protest…

And, for them, it’s no stretch of the imagination to speculate, and or conclude, that for those protesters, they are protesting, first and foremost, any cessation of their familiar, cushy, entirely entitled way of life…

Because, the idea of that changing, the idea of having the warm, soft, nurturing, Liberal rug being suddenly pulled out from under them, has them understandably terrified, as it represents a very uncomfortable, unaccomodated, sudden awakening…

They aren’t nearly as worried about Trump becoming a King, if they are actually worried about that at all…

What they ARE terrified of, is actually having to EARN their food, clothing, and shelter now, instead of it Liberally just falling into all of their “collective” laps, like it always has…

Many want to remain “wards”, as they much prefer that, to ever becoming anything that might more closely resemble, “servants”…

Many don’t care who signs their government checks, by autopen or not, just as long as they actually keep receiving them…

Certainly that includes some of these, “No Kings” protesters..

If it was a, “No Wards”, protest, these, “Wards”, would certainly be marching, instead, with the counter protesters…

To be sure…

So we should have attacked the United States Capitol because we lost a free and fair election, even if it was certified in over 60 court cases. Yeah, Donald Trump called in his minions, sycophants, and supplicants to attack our Capitol over his lies and somehow wins re-election. He pardons felons who attacked police and that’s OK with you. Nobody was injured today and no property was destroyed. No attack on America after the recent election. You MAGAts might take a lesson from that. Oh, right, it’s a double standard as Trump announced his disdain of violence, LMAO. Oh yeah! Democracy only works if all sides accept the free and fair result of elections.

That is not happened. And if you don’t know from first hand observations, shame of you for not protesting a person who just stopped grants already approved to food banks and farmers growing for food banks to feed people and took $100M of our money to close down WDC for a birthday party.

I was there. From 10am until 2:30pm Madaket Plaza, march ON SIDEWALKS and at the courthouse. People were friendly, courteous and helpful.

Protesters were on the sidewalk walking from madaket starting around noon. By Noon there were hundreds arriving at the courthouse. The police made the decision to close off 5th at J and H. once the police closed off the streets, people walked in the streets. I was there. I saw what happened, Over a thousand people walked from Madaket Plaza to the Courthouse ON THE SIDEWALKS, with monitors stopping the walkers controlled by stop signs/no signs (Old Town) intersections to not interfere with cars. Only once we got to the Courthouse, the Police had already closed off 5th street. It was their decision, not ours.

Thousands in Humboldt County spoke. Tens of millions throughout the country, all peaceful except for one reported attempt at homicide by SUV driving into the crowds of protesters in Virginia.

We protested today to allow you to keep writing your lies and calling people you don’t know names. You’re welcome.

Ironic that the people protesting are free to do so here in the free country in which they are living. Whose this “king” oppressing them? I saw no one interfering with the insults written on their signs about President Trump. I saw no one interfering with chants and obscenities about our leader. When they blocked traffic no one shot them or arrested them. Law enforcement asked them to stop blocking traffic. Seems like a reasonable request and the protesters apparently obeyed in a peaceful way. I have one question: if you live in the most free country in the world and are free to “peacefully” protest as the constitution claims, what’s the beef? I didn’t hear anyone try to silence you or interfere with your protest. The irony of it all was not lost by some of us.

Sadly they don’t see the irony of Biden’s Red Speech being truly anti-Constitutional. Biden, with his 50 year usurpation of DC, was more like a king than anyone …

EPD on hand and pulling over hostile/dangerous drivers for us earlier on. Then showing restraint as protesters took over the street. I left shortly thereafter; no more cars can pass by and see and support us, people instead are shunted around the area, inconvenienced without necessarily knowing why. Do we get more supporters this way? I have my doubts. There will probably be a time for civil disobedience and general strikes, but if and when those come we need to be sure that we are not mirroring our opposition in our approach and attitudes. Only light dispels darkness.

As with every large gathering, there’s the main issue, and then 100 other band waggoners joining in to protest anything and everything because they want to be associated with the general herd. Zoom in on any photo of signs and you’ll see 15 different unrelated things. None of which say “Hi Mom!” or “Bethany will you marry me?” or even “I like bad hair days”. Nah. None of that.

Several major roads, expressways and bridges will be closed to vehicle traffic during the day – and some have already been shuttered this week. Here’s what to know about parking and road closures in Washington, D.C. for Saturday’s military parade.

Yep. You will accept “Our Democracy” and if you don’t like it, you can wait in a traffic jam because we are protesting for “our democracy.” Nevermind some folks might be going somewhere they need to be at a certain time. Oh well, “our” cause is more important. The greedy selfishness of these people is beyond comprehension.

PS: Was on-site carbon pollution monitoring performed in real time for this event? Were carbon offsets purchased to offset this pollution? If not, why not? Did the County give them an excessive carbon pollution waiver? If not, why not? Should citizens be able to sue the County of Humboldt for purposely allowing excessive carbon pollution to occur in Eureka, which effects the entire County, not just ground zero? We need answers to these important questions, as “our climate” is hanging in the balance.

Who is “our.”? That’s a rhetorical question because we already that “our” means the Democrat Party and their fellow travelers in political paradigms.

I see that’s floating around, but sadly, for you, no. The 4 people who were shot, two of whom died were shot by a Trump voter.

Also, I can not imagine how little some folks understand just how huge Los Angeles is. Or how little of it was actually involved.

Burned Los Angeles

But some folks have also told me that Portland, Oregon was “burned to the ground” right here on RHBB. Also, absolute bullshit. Not a huge fan of Portland, never have been, but I do go fairly often for the in-laws. My husband and I were joking, after the protests and jokingly remarked how quickly Portland had rebuilt and amazingly looked just like it did before.

From the internet:

A republic is a form of government where power ultimately lies with the people, often exercised through elected representatives and governed by a constitution. A democracy is a system where the people have the right to govern, either directly or through elected representatives. Therefore, many republics are democratic, but the *terms are not synonymous*, and there have been republics that were not fully democratic in their form of representation.

LOL.

Were you bitching about all this for those inconvenienced in Washington DC on Jan. 6?

Are you completely anti-protest or just protests you don’t like?

And it always amuses me that the knee-jerk reactions like yours always default to people who “don’t work”, or hope for a “day off”…or my personal “favorite”, are not also tax payers or are on some government dole.

Every year, in my little burg, we have a parade for the local “Loyalty Days”. 101 is shut down for about a mile. We somehow survive the couple of hours without having a cow about it. Though there is a bit of horseshit on the road afterwards. 🙂

I did go to our “No Kings” event today. I was surprised at the turnout, it was quite large, one estimate was around 2000, though I don’t think there were that many, but there were a lot of people.

The only violence was last week when a MAGA couple confronted a small group of elderly protestors, who are almost always on there. The man assaulted an elderly war veteran and knocked him to the ground. The elderly man went to the hospital and the 40 y/o man is still in jail and won’t be going anywhere for awhile.

are you against violence by just MAGA supporters!?

I couldn’t think of any larger entity on earth with a larger violence footprint, but maybe we can define what violence is, implied or stated, whether covert or overt, and how realistic it is to condemn violence By some people and not others

Ouch. That is gonna be painful for many many folks. Like almost everyone in Humboldt and Del Norte counties. It’s like this was planned, hint-hint, to go along with the upcoming mandate to ban sales of gas vehicles in 2035. Force the serfs to buy EVs, or they lose their freedom to literally drive if you cannot afford one. But, the Kings will say, “you can still drive your old gas vehicle but gas will be $10 a gallon or more. Suck it up.” Double whammy. Was that a move of a King? Thank god the dually elected President killed that stupidity just recently. So the Kings lost but do they still plan on imposing that tax on us since their original harsh nudge plan fell apart? Hmmm, what do you think? Answer: Kings are in essence totalitarians and they are unwilling to give an inch when it comes to the peasants. Ask the Scots who lived in Mud Huts with dirt floors.

State Excise Tax: $0.60 per gallon (this is the highest in the US). State Sales Tax: Approximately $0.10 per gallon. Underground Storage Tank Fee:$0.02 per gallon. Federal Excise Tax: $0.18 per gallon (this is the same for all states). Total: $0.90 per gallon.

tax paying liberal?

do you ever wonder how painful it is to look at how poorly all those tax paying dollars are managed?

if People truly embraced their expectations of accountability and the sheer waste of life force we have come to celebrate, we cannot blame our management class from leaning towards computers and automation, and looking at the human condition as a problem to be solved with repeated stress testing and business models that rely less and less on the investment into failing paradigm.

there is absolutely no reason to invest in humans who can’t take responsibility when they are encouraged to destroy what they could never build.

it’s time to recognize why so many wealthy powerful people despise the domesticated herd of modern humans.

the key is to recognize why so many keep going along with the program that is undermining the very foundation of your cellular health.

why do people crucify those people who try to help people understand the fictional reality they continue to support and then ask why there are so many younger people with absolutely no chance to escape the chaos of modern debt slavery. These young people 35 and under have been taught to hate the system that has left them the crumbs of opportunity and all the responsibility for funding the pensioners.

wait until they wake up.

Actually threatening Avelo with defunding might just get lil’ ol’ Humboldt that sort of attention. It’s just such a hoot for so many liberals to suddenly want the Constitution to stop Trump without have a clue as to how the Constitution protects people. There was one sign saying “Defend the Constitution ” with a fist below it.

It does it by limiting government. Not by getting government to act on demand against government. I wonder if any holding these signs have even read the document. It would be a silver lining if some of them decided to do that but it’s more likely they will just wait for someone to tell them what they are to say next.

Waiting for the Supreme Court might be too long.

“Blocking streets”…???

Blocking 4th and 5th is the equivalent of blocking US Route 101 in both directions…

How very dictatorial and authoritarian of them…

And guess what…???

Liberal Humboldt County does absolutely nothing regarding such rampant Anti Trump unlawfulness, obstructionism, chaos, and disorder…

Bravo…!!!

What could be more Liberally Progressive than Collective Obstructionism…???

What’s next, vandalism, graffiti, and a side order of flash mob looting…???

Will the “flash mob choir”, pick up a few things, “for a song”…???

A fine example…

Welcome to California, where “Democracy” has become synonymous with “unlawfulness”…

It’s a Highly Protective Sanctuary State, for everyone, except, that is, for our Current Duly Elected President, Donald J. Trump…

Makes perfect sense, right…???

If only President Donald J. Trump was an illegal alien, California Progressive Liberal Democrats would not only welcome him with open arms, they would vociferously defend him for all they are worth, and fight others in order to totally cover all of his health care and bills…

“Oh hey, here’s Gov. Tim Walz two weeks ago telling Democrats they needed to get meaner.

Then a guy he appointed (with “No Kings” flyers in his car) shot two Minnesota lawmakers.”

“The two Minnesota democratic lawmakers shot last night, both recently voted against their party, with Hortman supporting repeal of free healthcare for illegals and Hoffman joining Republicans in the Senate to pass it.”

“In 2019, the office of Minnesota Democratic Governor Tim Walz named Boelter to his Governor’s Workforce Development Board. The governor’s website said the board assists in “developing, implementing, and modifying the State plan, review of statewide policies and programs, providing recommendations on actions to align and improve the workforce development system and programs,” among other matters.”

“The governor’s website listed Boelter as a “business and industry representative.” His appointment was effective from December 2019 to January 2023, according to a notice.”

The previous Governor has appointed him (1 of 60, non-partisan) and Walz continued with that.

There is a whiff of desperation to disavow him as a conservative/MAGA, but those that knew hi have said he was a Trump supporter.

Sorry but I say go to heck. The idea that you can shut down 101 because it pleases you irks me to all hell. You can demonstrate stand on the sidewalk do whatever you want, but when you start blocking arteries in inconveniencing people incredibly I want to say just going to hell. Seventh Street was a complete chaos with big Riggs trying to turn when they could not turn and blocking off everything. As far as I am concerned, you guys are trash. You have no message And you’re acting like six-year-olds throwing a tantrum 🤬

The people who ratted out their neighbors five years ago for holding house parties, disobeying stay-at-home orders, or walking without masks, were out in full force today protesting tyranny. These people who seem mostly to live off interest and dividends, who two years ago decided they were huge fans of a place called Ukraine, are today really upset by something. Some held signs that were openly and shockingly full of blood lust.

I’m so sad that for 30 mins on one day of my life someone made me drive out of the way. I actually want to cry, it was so difficult to drive my car. Such sadness. Much sadness. I called my therapist, and it still didn’t help.

Some sad group of ppl commenting here are complete hypocrites. You’re circle jerking it so hard you might rip the thing off.

Good folk don’t cross the border illegally at least not the ones I want to see in our country. Sucks for you , Soon you will all have to work for a living as there will be jobs for everyone . No more free money to lazy fghks . Unemployment will just be the employment office . Want money we will put you to work. America can survive the democratic party.

Great to see people standing for their constitutional rights and trying to preserve the American Democracy! Anybody who wants to live in a dictatorship should move to Russia, and live under Putin.

I’m very impressed by the citizens of the State of Jefferson! A great community of non violent peace loving people doing what we are supposed to do. As for the complaints about rerouted traffic, please locate your easy button and press firmly. It’s not like you didn’t know about the planned event. Maybe pre plan your route next time there’s a national event scheduled for months in advance. Blessings to all.

I was at this protest. The protesters did not block the streets. Due to the high numbers of people who attended,The police voluntarily blocked the streets so that we could exercise our First Amendment rights to protest this fascist regime.

No Kings in “Our Democracy” The comedy gold is just like the first miners found it. No digging required. In plain view and abundant. Please keep the coagulated mouth breathing going every weekend! The carbon pollution will eradicate any living creature within ground zero. Hopefully the County can get a handle on this as it is only increasing the carbon they seek to reduce. Maybe they can put a $500 twice yearly tax on anybody who owns an EV in Humboldt to offset the damage. Gotta make it up somewhere and like they say, break a few eggs. Plus, EVs are heavy, cause more than average excessive road surface degradation, and are fire hazards for economically strapped rural fire districts. Consider it a donation for Gaia.

So protestors can illegally block streets and those of us that have to drive through the area to conduct our non violent not protesting business can get tickets because the stupid protestors choose to illegally block streets. What a world we live in. How about citing the protestors that block the street.

lol MAGA tools are such drama queens and violence fetishists. Y’all want this to be radical and violent so bad. All you really need to do to see reality is go and look with your eyeballs at all the kids and grandmas and vets and business owners out there today in Eureka and across the country. Even Florida tough guy lol. True locals don’t drive through Eureka on 5th anyways. I suppose if it was a homecoming parade or a funeral procession you’d be just as pissed for your 5 minute inconvenience and spew a bunch of anger at everyone.

I was there today. On the sidewalk, at the street in front of the courthouse steps. I was there from the beginning. People were respectful, friendly and there was a feeling of camaraderie. One veteran in full military dress was in a wheelchair being pushed by his granddaughter. People driving by were honking and waving. There were a very select few who were disrespectful. Even they were met with cheers from the crowd. Then a group showed up, marching down the middle of the street. They had a bullhorn, were yelling different things. As they passed where I was they were encouraging protesters to join them in the streets. I did not. The people around me did not. We stayed on the sidewalk and continued to do so. When I was leaving, I passed two different groups of law enforcement officers at intersections that had been closed off. I yelled to them thanking them for keeping everyone safe. They smiled and nodded, one officer waved. It was a great interaction. After reading some of these comments, I felt I needed to share my view as someone who there in the very middle of everything.

Maybe the positive interaction with law enforcement will encourage the organizers to get a permit next time.

That way, the cops can close the road, set up detours, and protect everybody’s everything in an orderly way. Pulling a permit would have certainly prevented the cited drivers from ever traveling unsafely through the demonstration. Everybody should be for that.

Thank you EPD for keeping protestors safe today! There were a lot of people and I’m so grateful we all turned out, it was peaceful and a great display of a connected community that cares!
I would like to point out that the LAPD has been acting as a buffer between protestors and military. They want to keep their community safe!
Protestors , Please do not direct your justified anger at our local law enforcement. They truly are trying to keep the peace.
I’d like to dedicate this song to all my fellow protesters! “Put me on the front lines!” Trump is just a “push off”.

From the video I would say the demo was peaceful, well attended, and handled well by CHP, HSO and EPD. I wish there was a bit more focus on the stated, No Kings, message of the demonstration. I would have loved to have used a bullhorn to denounce RFK Jr. firing all of the ACIP members, but lots of people would have thought me quite annoying.

I read people commenting about the inconvenience and cost today. The people were protesting the apparent actions of the “Trump Regime.” Try comparing this to Trump having streets cleared back in June 2020 during a peaceful protest of police brutality so he could march to a church and heft a bible for a photo op in DC or the estimated $40 million of our taxpayer money used to pay for his ego-driven Russian- or China-like military birthday parade today. Pretty minor by comparison.

Where were all of these “No Kings” protests during Covid when King Newsom was shutting down mom and pop businesses and keeping his own winery open? He wasn’t following his own rules about masks and kicking people off of beaches.. and absolutely no singing in churches etc, etc…There was no uprising against that? Ok 🙄

Newsom is a dick, but it was a worldwide public health crisis. Millions of people died, over a million here in the U.S. Do you not remember the NYC morgue renting refrigerated trucks to store the bodies? Or doctors trying to make one respirator work for two people? Families saying goodbye to their loved ones over iPads? Images of exhausted, traumatized health care workers with deep red grooves around their mouths from wearing masks 12 hours a day while they watched patients slowly suffocate to death?

We were asked to make a sacrifice to keep ourselves and our families safe; it sucked out loud, but I didn’t want my husband to die, I didn’t want my friends and family to die, I didn’t want you to die. So I wore an uncomfortable mask when I was out, kept my distance, and got the vaccine as soon as I could.

Why does that anger you so much?

These idiots block a main road and people are getting cited. That’s bullshit. We drivers pay a shit load of taxes to use the roads these protesters deserve to get hit. Did these idiots have a permit to block a state highway as 5th is considered? I’m so tired of all these crybaby assholes. Something has to be done by our LEOS TO STOP THERS SHIT OF BLOCKING OUR ROADS.

So it’s disingenuous to have a headline of “protesters block streets” when the chief of police stated “He said there were too many people and not enough sidewalk so they had to shut down 5th for several blocks to provide room for the large numbers who showed up.”

Law enforcement blocked off streets and people went into the said streets after it was safe to do so. Protesters did not enter 101 on 5th street today until 101 was shut down by law enforcement.

Who is Vance Luther Boelter, the man wanted in the ‘assassination’ of a Minnesota lawmaker?

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2025/06/14/suspect-minnesota-lawmaker-shootings-vance-boelter/84212956007/

“In 2019, the office of Minnesota Democratic Governor Tim Walz named Boelter to his Governor’s Workforce Development Board. The governor’s website said the board assists in “developing, implementing, and modifying the State plan, review of statewide policies and programs, providing recommendations on actions to align and improve the workforce development system and programs,” among other matters.

The governor’s website listed Boelter as a “business and industry representative.” His appointment was effective from December 2019 to January 2023, according to a notice.”

A law enforcement official who saw the suspect’s hit list told FOX 9 the suspect’s list targets prominent pro-choice individuals in Minnesota, including many Democratic lawmakers who have been outspoken about pro-choice policy positions. Waltz himself was on the list as was Rep Ilhan Omar.

He is also a Christian who opposes abortion and a Trump voter.
