Janelle Sutton Ellyson of Arcata, CA, died peacefully on 4/11/2025 following a head injury from a fall. Born in Fresno, CA, on March 6, 1971, she attended Bullard High School, and went on to graduate from (Cal Poly Humboldt or Humboldt State University) with a botany degree and a teaching credential graduate degree.
She is survived by her mother Sharon L. Funk and father Glenn M. Sutton, her sister Leah G. Sutton, two sons Lucas and Riley Ellyson, and their father Billy Ellyson aka “Shmoopie.”
Her devotion to her sons overshadowed her own selfcare. She was a sweet soul, funny, beautiful, and wickedly smart. A murderino, a Seinfeld expert, a crafter of immense creativity, and a life-long General Hospital fan.
She will be greatly missed. Helping others to the very end, she was an organ donor, improving the lives of four people. Family and friends will hold a celebration of Janelle’s life in June.

Very sad news. Good that she was able to be a donor.
