Two Arrested After Machete-Wielding Suspect Flees During Warrant Served in Connection With Armed Robbery on Table Bluff

Around 10:30 this morning, deputies from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office responded to Wiyot Drive on Table Bluff near Loleta to serve warrants on two wanted subjects. Shortly after deputies arrived, one of the men fled on foot carrying a machete, according to reports over the scanner.
Scanner traffic indicated the suspect ran for about a mile before being captured.
According to HCSO Lt. Jesse Taylor. both suspects—Cody Meyers (born 3/11/87) and Jason Sherman (born 11/11/90)—were eventually located and taken into custody. Taylor said the men were wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on April 1, 2025, on the Wiyot Reservation.
“One of the suspects who was taken into custody suffered an apparent drug [overdose] and is being taken to a local hospital for treatment prior to booking,” Taylor told us.
Law enforcement remains at the scene as the investigation continues.

So sad, that we in California have to keep dealing with career criminals because the liberals have made it more supportive of the criminal than the victim. That old booking photo is a perfect illustration of the problem. They couldn’t even make him pull his hair back to show his face… afraid of assault or abuse charges? Why not, “Hey show your face and look into the camera. Now, or one more charge is added, and in fact, we will ‘detain’ your hair so that your face can be seen if you don’t just move it yourself.” No… do not distress or worry him… guess we really didn’t need a photo anyway.

They lose their jobs, face being stigmatized by actions of a few, and possible imprisonment for decisions forced to be made in split seconds. They are second guested and blamed for all the failures of our society and laws by “keyboard warriors”. Remember we are just as responsible for the quality of our justice by our votes and allowing our justice system to be controlled by political agendas instead of safety for our society. We get the law enforcement we vote for and it reflects the attitude of the community it serves.
