Huffman Slams Trump’s Executive Order to ‘Upend California Water System, Once Again Conditioning Aid’

This is a press release from Jared Huffman:

[Recently], U.S. House Natural Resources Committee Ranking Member Jared Huffman (D-Calif.) issued the following statement on President Donald Trump’s executive order related to Southern California’s water supply:

“President Trump has wasted no time in abusing his power by capitalizing on a crisis to advance the GOP’s longstanding goals of decimating environmental protections and putting special interests over the needs of everyday Americans. With the stroke of a pen, Trump has chosen to undermine critically important safeguards and a whole host of community needs regarding the largest and most complex water operations in the world,” said Ranking Member Jared Huffman.

“Do not be fooled by Trump’s lies: none of the policies in this executive order will move even a single drop of extra water to communities devastated by these wildfires. This administration is presenting us with a false choice. Fishers, farmers, treasured species, and every water user all depend on our water resources – we do not have to pick winners or losers. This is a blatant, shameless move to shoehorn Republican donors’ unpopular pet issues into the national conversation and pull a bait and switch on desperate Californians.

“Families in Southern California have lost everything. The president should be focusing on convincing his allies in Congress to provide Los Angeles the assistance it desperately needs as soon as possible and free from conditions. Instead, he is doubling down on conditioning aid to California with unrelated demands. These actions by the Trump administration mark a low point for cooperative water management for all Californians, people, and wildlife.”

BACKGROUND

President Trump signed an Executive Order on directing Federal Agencies to take steps to increase the water supply in Southern California. Among other provisions, he directed agencies to consider a number of actions unrelated to the wildfires or water supply in Southern California, including:

  • Reevaluating the 2024 Bureau of Reclamation Environmental Impact Statement for the State Water Project (SWP) and the Central Valley Project (CVP) operations including the outdated “no action alternative” pushed by his first administration;
  • Ignoring state and local laws in the Central Valley Project operations;
  • Advocates for expediting the use of the Endangered Species Act “God Squad” to waive ESA protections for salmon and other species impacted by the CVP and SWP;
  • Rescinding or updating regulations related to ESA section 7 interagency consultations; and
  • Suspending, revising, or rescinding any regulations or procedures the Trump administration believes impede water storage projects.

Water managers and researchers have said that Southern California’s cities are not currently short of water, and that the region’s reservoirs are at record high levels following plentiful deliveries of supplies in 2023 and 2024.

Did Clinton have 20-something computer nerds going through SSA and MediCare records? Flag all Republican files and go through THEM since Trump lemmings love that shit. For everybody else.

I’m just going to tuck this in beneath your post.

House Republican Wants To Speak With Investigators of JFK Assassination – Who Are All Dead
Based on what we’re actually looking to do with the JFK investigation, I’m looking to actually bring in some of the attending physicians at the initial assassination. Then also people that had been on the various commissions looking into it, like the Warren Commission looking into the initial assassination. There’s been conflicting evidence. And I think that even the FBI at the time reported some anomalies in the initial autopsy at Bethesda, Maryland. All of those seem to have been rinsed and repeated in the media to push a certain narrative that we don’t agree with.

Most of the Warren Commission died before she was born. Only two lived after she was born. One of them dying when she was a year old. Gerald Ford was the last one and he died 18 years ago.
The doctors are all dead as well. If any other people involved in the investigation are still alive they’d be in their 80s at best.

Let’s not have the president deciding our water issues. We have enough hands in our clusterfck mismanaged water supply as it is. He has enough agencies he can tool with and screw up. Leave our water alone!

Huffman is just once again showing how truly ignorant he is on every subject. He has no clue what he is talking about, but he knows that if Republicans like it, he had better hate it. It’s people like him and our “governor” who have destroyed California, not protected it. As usual, just by his unintelligent utterings he proves how dumb he is. And, by the way, talk about special interest, Huffy boy is all about it on that destructive off shore wind farm crap.

Notice the first thing the huffster spews, crisis—-crisis—–crisis, like a stuck record. There is no crisis, California receives more than enough water to support a large population, you merely have to store it for dry years, which this guy has opposed at every turn. You are the crisis soy-boy.

Wasn’t Trump just saying that States need to make their own decisions?
So why is he now telling us how to manage our water?

Maybe if our state had built a bunch of water storage like they taxed us for instead of doing who knows what, we probably wouldn’t be in this position.

The largest forest fire in California history covered less than 2% of the land area of California.

The worst fire season in California history burned less than 15% of the state.

So yeah, I’m serious, when did the state almost burn down?

not a good idea to give California hundreds of millions in dollars of aid without strings attached. This state has a tendency to repeat the same mistakes looking for a better result.

What mistakes? Related to water, specifically.
We do grow some very wasteful crops such as alfalfa and cotton,
but those aren’t what Trumps orders are targeting.

Hot air from Huffman. Not one dollar went to the people who lost their homes in the August complex 2020. The national forest admitted guilt and still didn’t py anyone for burning up their property. Blah blah blah from california.

A know nothing President that lies every time he opens his mouth, cannot competently do anything. It’s all performative BS. Corruption, greedy, vindictive and cruel, is what he’s good at. The Crooked Dictator in Chief ruling over his subjects with a sharp whip.

This is likely the most dishonest, ignorant comment I’ve ever read. First of all, Trump is one of the world’s best businessmen. Second, Elon is another one of the world’s best businessmen. The pathetic ignorant Democrats have no businessmen willing to sacrifice for America and actually do what is right, like, you know, follow the constitution instead of shred it like the Democrats. To Democrats, everything is about more spending, more power and to hell with the constitution. It’s all based on lies believed by far left lunatic activists who do anything including violent crimes in their not so peaceful protests. California has bought in to this and keep voting in the same garbage who mismanage everything from the environment to the taxpayer money.

Trump and Musk are absolutely correct to give money to California only with strings attached. Without strings and federal oversight, not one dollar would go to where it belongs. That’s fact.

FLOOD THE LAWNS OR YOU GET STRING!
open the valve on the CANADIAN water being horded by lake Shasta Lemurian!
The Democrats want to incinerate Southern California to save a few little lake Shasta dolphins. Where does all the southern California water even go? Not to any Republicans in Santa Barbie. They’re getting burned. It all goes to “Immigrant Communities” in the Central Valley of Mexico del Norte.

Trump is a wealthy business heir who leveraged his notoriety into a television career.

It’s fine to support him politically, but why the need to blatantly lie about his past? The guy couldn’t even successfully run a casino for Christ’s sake. His most profitable ventures always involve licensing his name to better businessmen.

He’s the best golfer of all the famous people. Casinos are notorious for being difficult to run profitably. He’s magnificent and I don’t have to tell you why I’d blatantly lie about his past. That’s States Rights.

Idiots like Huffman are the reason California is falling apart. Now California will be forced to follow realistic wildland fire protocols and policies or no federal funding.

Trump ordered 2 billion gallons of water released to the sea that could have been used by communities and REPUBLICAN farmers in the Valley this summer because he is an idiot. The problem with the L.A. fires and water volume was the result of four or five communities turning on all hydrants at once, plus domestic use. Trump lemmings will obviously believe any drivel that Trump spews.
