Bonta Warns Federal Workers Against Trump Admin’s ‘Deferred Resignation’ Offer

Press release from the Office of Rob Bonta:

California Attorney General logoCalifornia Attorney General Rob Bonta today joined a coalition of 12 attorneys general warning federal employees about the Trump Administration’s questionable “deferred resignation” program, which purports to offer federal employees pay through September 30, 2025, if they resign by February 6, 2025. Following the Trump Administration’s proposal, unions representing federal employees warned their members against accepting the offer, adding that employees who accepted the offer were not guaranteed its benefits. California is home to nearly 150,000 federal workers who provide vital services to Americans nationwide.

“Federal employees provide vital services that Americans rely on every day, and are an essential part of the California economy and communities across the state,” said Attorney General Bonta. “The Trump Administration’s so-called buyout offer is a pointed attack aimed at dismantling our federal workforce and sowing chaos for Americans that rely on a functioning government. I urge federal employees to heed warnings from their unions to be very cautious of any buyout offers.”

On January 28, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) sent an email to millions of federal employees detailing a new deferred resignation program. Employees were told that if they accept the offer and resign, they would continue receiving all pay and benefits, and be exempt from in-person work requirements until September 30. OPM sent another email to federal employees on January 30 reiterating the offer and urging them to find “higher productivity” jobs outside of government. The OPM emails instructed employees that they have until February 6 to decide to remain in their position or resign under the deferred resignation program and warned that those who did not resign were not guaranteed to keep their jobs.

Immediately following OPM’s email, unions representing federal employees warned their members against accepting the offer. The American Federation of Government Employees, the largest federal employees union, released information for its members warning them that employees who accepted the offer were not guaranteed its benefits. The National Federation of Federal Employees similarly warned its members against accepting the offer.

Joining Attorney General Bonta in issuing the warning to federal employees are the attorneys general of Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, and Washington.

Government Attorney Generals sound kind of scared that people are realizing how unnecessary big government is.

This is telling: “Federal employees provide vital services that Americans rely on every day,”

Hey Americans! How about growing a pair and quit relying on the Federal Government!

Trump Train rolling through a bureaucracy somewhere near you, soon!

Really? Do you have any, any at all, shred of evidence that Medicare or social security will be affected by any lay offs? Or for that matter kids lunches or senior meals? Or are you just trying to bully people you think vulnerable in nasty way? Because, of course, that is what a brainwashed vicious person would think to do?

There is a very big difference between sarcasm and honesty and truthfulness…

Lets not kid ourselves or bullshit others…

Maybe try sticking with the facts in the comment section in order to minimize misunderstandings…???

The evidence is there in all the videos of Jan. 6, 2021 and the Hearings and every time Trump opens his mouth for the last 40 years. Maybe you are too young to remember? Or, like Bob Dylan might ask, how many eyes and ears must you have to see and hear the truth?

You don’t know what sarcasm is, do you? The first sentence can be read as sarcasm because of the inherent idea that kids lunches or senior meals, usually considered important, are announced as unimportant. However everything after that is a straightforward complaint, whine, accusation or insult. Not at all sarcasm which is “the use of remarks that clearly mean the opposite of what they say, made in order to hurt someone’s feelings or to criticize something in a humorous way:” Here is a link to the definition of sarcasm (and that Sherlock is sarcasm ) https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/sarcasm

Any time a bunch of employees, in any large public or private organization, quit en masse, it’s a problem. Trump doesn’t give a damn about anyone but himself. This is just a ploy to easily replace honest, non-partisan employees with Trump puppets, just like with all the FBI employees who honestly investigated Jan. 6 and the Inspectors General. Trump wants an Orban or Putin autocracy accountable to no one and you’re helping him.

Things like Medicaid (Medi-Cal) Meals on Wheels and such could be hit. Of course, you’re not low-income and nobody you know is old and poor. Good for you. Oh, and Trump is the will o’ God. Medicare and Social Security were Democratic initiatives, opposed by Republicans. Republicans hate the idea of subsidized health care, they want to gouge people who are suffering or dying, No money? Stay sick. Medicare Advantage? Ha, ha. Supplement? maybe.

Had I had the opportunity to invest it, I would have turned it into a lot more money than I will get when I do retire. As it is, I invested wisely so you know what Social Security will be to me? I’m guessing you are also on Medicare now too. Otherwise your private health insurance is going to cost more than your mortgage soon, if you have one. I see the bills senior citizens get and the EOBs. Care homes arent cheap. Your savings are going to be drained pretty quick in your last 10 years. Hopefully you left a dollar or two for your kids.

““The Trump Administration’s so-called buyout offer is a pointed attack aimed at dismantling our federal workforce and sowing chaos for Americans that rely on a functioning government.”

it’s pretty obvious that our bloated government is dysfunctional and inefficient, thus the reason why we the people voted Trump to clean up the mess. Us taxpayers deserve a better bang for the buck.

“..a functioning government…”

That’s definitely a stretch…

Bonta doesn’t even seem to know what his job description actually is…

(And isn’t…)

Bonta is quite obviously just Newsom’s shameless henchman, and isn’t doing the job of our State Attorney General, at all…

Since when does he represent lackluster federal employees…???

However, he is certainly representative of what it means to be a lackluster State employee…

Speaking of lackluster slackers, Bonta reminds me of Kamala Harris, in that, instead of them appropriately focusing on just doing their damn jobs, like they are supposed to be doing, they are making utter fools of themselves, worthlessly jockeying in their insatiable ambition for achieving higher political positions…

If Bonta can’t figure out how to do his job, or even what it is, it would be nice if he would politely step down, and let someone else have the opportunity to actually succeed at doing it…

We donta wanta Bonta…

He should stay in his own lane…

The Federal government has millions of worthless jobs, often filled with worthless people. My experience with the union was that it made promises to its members but had only a desire to collect dues and then do nothing. Add to that, Bonta and other Democrat AGs and you know everyone involved is likely dishonest, incompetent and in denial of how terrible the Democrat administrations have been. I say hatchet all Federal and state employees and start over, only this time hire only a few and abandon the majority of programs as they are just a waste of taxpayer money.

I see it as him advocating for (his)states rights, as well I’d expect him to represent us. But CA tends to act as it’s own federal agency and that grates other states that don’t want to be influenced by CA politics and policies OR the federal government. This is how Cascadia/Jefferson movements gain traction.

Bonta has worked hard and achieved good goals:

Bonta, as the assigned attorney by the City Attorney’s Office, argued for the city that Medora and her friends put themselves and others in danger by walking on the street and were warned to leave by Damonte and another officer. The city eventually settled the lawsuit for $235,000 in May 2008.[12]

In 2009, Bonta argued on behalf of San Francisco, defending its strip search policy in jails by asserting that concerns about smuggling of drugs and weapons at a main city jail presented reasonable basis for strip searches.[13] The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled 6–5 in favor of the strip search policy in February 2010.[14]

Maga would rather defend starting a trade war to expand the drug war than say Bonta is a good attorney for arguing for strip searches in jails for drugs….

One policy obviously has a direct affect on the offender vs the sober not-in-jail entire US population.

But….They gotta be in a cult for now.

Thankfully, I’m actually NOT “already in prison”, as you so inappropriately allege…

So the rest of your allegation is moot…

Regardless of that…

Not everyone that gets taken to jail is guilty of what they are accused of…

So they would not be deserving of suffering the indignities of being strip searched, much to your chagrin…

It’s also my opinion that only a licensed medical professional should be conducting such a procedure, especially if it’s ANYTHING but superficial…

But maybe I am confusing being strip searched, with also being cavity searched…
