Several years ago our son and his family was involved in a major injury accident at the Bridges Creek bridge. They were southbound after visiting for Christmas and a rented Z car coming up from Frisco spun out in front them and crossed into their lane. They were fortunate not to be pushed over the edge into the river. It took the Jaws of Life to extricate my daughter in law. Fortunately no one in their car had serious injuries but the driver of the Nissan had to be Medivacted for a head injury.
Since then Caltrans has extended the guardrails but although I’m no expert on roadbeds it looks like maybe changing the gradient might prevent spinouts there.
Caltrans did alot of work there in the last 20 yrs . They by passed that confusion hill section. It seems the smaller, lighter cars hydroplane a bit more then the older heavier cars.
