Go around through Petrolia or Ettersberg come Winter?
“A detour will be provided when the bridge is not in service”– i like to think that means a high, temp bridge nearby, not a half-day’s journey.
Temp bridge nearby. Might be along Burrel Rd, as that was a very old route with crossing points. But that one has to be put in first. Also, there was an agreement with the county that the bridge was to be dismantled, moved and reassembled elsewhere because it’s listed as historic. There was a county request for entities to do this. I do believe the replacement design will have a similar truss appearance, but wider to accommodate heavier and wider vehicles. As it is, anything wider than 10 or 11′ can’t make it over. As much as I love that bridge, it really is quite unsafe.
I’m concerned for the Honeydew Bridge Chump. And his golden pit bull…
Trolls can’t catch a break. Bridges are their traditional homes. Is there no respect for heritage?
I hate to see the old one go.
Right? It’s very narrow and noisy, but it adds a ton of charm to that little place.
I wonder where their detour will be, and how they’ll get the work done in one season (especially getting such a late start).
Actually, i was wondering why they were giving themselves so MUCH time… 17 months ’til November, 2025.
Exactly
On second thought, two lanes (I hope) demands more material and time.
Its one-lane capacity is dangerous when too-fast newbies enter the bridge, and somebody has already started on the other side, and somebody has to back up, we hope.
Is this bridge closed down atm?
