This morning Humboldt County Public Works has been clearing the roadway noting that this is a “Big Tree, big problem.” The roadway is still impacted as of 9:30 a.m.
UPDATE 4:59 p.m.: The road is open!

Yeah I guess it’s a big tree…we’ve had stuff like this come down on our road. 2 guys, 1 chainsaw, 1 small excavator and we would have cleared that in less than 3 hours. Really, not bragging just saying… I guess this is how the government works. We just don’t have that much time to waste and nobody is paying us!
Yup, as evidenced by the picture. 3 people in the pic, not one of them with a tool or branch or limb in hand. One person operating equipment. I guess all the labor was being done on the other side of the big tree.

Nope. Like I said, it was a really big tree. I use to run a chainsaw for the Forest Service.
