Periodic Closures of Table Bluff Road Expected to Begin December 18th

Press release from the Humboldt County Public Works Department:

road closed signDuring the week of December [18th], 2023, Humboldt County Public Works will need to intermittently close Table Bluff Road between Indianola Reservation Road and South Jetty Road from 8am through 4pm.

Near this location, the California Department of Wildlife (CDFW) will be conducting activities related to The Table Bluff Ecological Reserve Coastal Prairie Restoration Project. This multi-agency restoration project will use helicopters to relocate downed trees from the Table Bluff area to Ocean Ranch. The flight path of the helicopters will fly over portions of Table Bluff Road and for safety reasons the roadway will need to be closed while the helicopters are conducting activities.

Intermittent road closures will occur for undetermined lengths of time (at the time of this posting). Humboldt County Public Works is anticipating closures to last between 30 – 120 minutes followed by brief openings to allow for passage of traffic.

Emergency services will be allowed to pass as needed.

They will be using helicopters to fly downed trees to another spot. To save the earth! Now does it make more sense? lol

Hmm… Was doing a little research.
Did any body hear about the ‘Secret’ Western Lily Reserve on Table Bluff !
Damn… I blew the secret. Photo is of ‘Western Lily’.

They are using some ‘nasty’ compounds on it.

Some Directives:

Post Ecological Reserve signing all fence lines.
Formally close fenced exclosure, closure signing posted on the internal fence.

Maintain minimal publicity about the Reserve and the lily.

Fence individual plants or areas;
Control rabbits, gophers: populations.
Slugs, snails: Metaldehyde.
Millipedes: Metasystox; Aldrin.
Lily beetle: Remove by hand; Parathion; Metasystox.
Botrytus: Captan; Thiram; Bordeaux mixture; Shirlan; monitor
weather and fungus, collect seed if threatened
by fungal infection.
Fusarium: Formalin; Vapam; Trapex; Larvacide.
