City of Arcata to Host Local Coastal Program Environmental Scoping Meeting

Join the City of Arcata for a Local Coastal Program Environmental Scoping Meeting on Monday, Dec. 18.
The City of Arcata is finalizing the comprehensive update to the Local Coastal Program which affects all development in the Coastal Zone. The public is invited to the Environmental Scoping Meeting to provide input on which special studies should be included as part of the environmental review. The meeting will include an introduction to the Local Coastal Program.
The meeting will be on Monday, Dec. 18, from 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall located at 736 F St. in Arcata.
The City will also be accepting written comments on environmental scoping and special studies. These should be emailed to David Loya, [email protected] and cc Kiko Barr, [email protected].

After several years of engagement on the Local Coastal Program update, these will be some of the last opportunities to provide input before the City submits final application materials to the Coastal Commission. The City hopes to hear from all community members!

If we do’not take care of the environment they’re will not be any thing left for the future generation’s. Stop burning fossile fuel’s which are the number 1 causes of global warming. Just think the next time you pass a gas station in you’re electric car you will not gripe about putting $150 in you’re gas guzzler. Plus doing some thing to make the world a better place for you’re children and there children.
A million electric vehicles charging each night? Can the electrical grid take it? A million batteries needing replacement every 6 to 8 years? Can the planet sustain the mining? Can the roads and bridges take the extra 2 to 3000 pound weight of EV vehicles? More for trucks? And most important, do ev vehicles save the planet if the sources of the electricity still use fossil fuel?
Really the only feasible immediate help is simply not to travel so much, which means making people feel safe and enjoyable living near where they work or go to school. Making neighborhoods more appealing than going somewhere else. Having local sources of foods, services and goods so no has travel to shop, see a doctor or dentist? Have parks and trails in every neighborhood? Want to try that one first?
And a functional public transportation system.
That’s not happening here. Not enough people and not profitable plus excessive time sitting for a trip no farther than 20 miles away. Not viable for most people who work for a living. Let’s keep it that way. We don’t need the borg from SoCal importing hundreds of thousands of themselves up here. There is already enough of these city fools lingering around, moaning about logging, fishing, big trucks, guns, water use, fake man caused global warming er cooling er climate change er warming, rednecks, and local mountain folk.
Offshore Windmills will shred birds and kill whales. Not viable. 15 minute cities, not viable and not worthy of consideration for rural communities. People move here for a reason, to keep away from other people, not join them in some collective where you can see your neighbor take a dump in his bathroom.
The only viable solution is to keep using a proven source of energy called fossil fuels until we can put water from our garden hose into our water tank in our vehicle. Free energy, no pollution. This has already been invented, just not allowed for public consumption. No money in it.
The only other solution is the incoming asteroid takes out humanity. And it is coming, the ring grabbers will just not let you know until 5 minutes before it hits. They already have their safe underground bunkers for themselves and families, called continuity of government. As if these grabbers are the people we have been waiting for….not. In their minds, the deplorables lingering in our society don’t need a week head start to go full feral, displace them from their underground gopher holes, and cast them out to be vaporized.
