Redway Man Struck and Killed North of Santa Rosa
On the evening of Friday, October 20, a Southern Humboldt man was struck and killed while pushing a shopping cart along Old Redwood Highway in the Larkfield-Wikiup area. The victim, identified as Beu Noe, a 45-year-old man believed to be a transient from the community of Redway, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. when Noe was walking north on Old Redwood Highway with his shopping cart, just north of Donna Drive. A 2004 Honda Civic, also traveling northbound, collided with Noe, causing fatal injuries.
According to the Press Democrat, “The Honda’s driver, who stopped at the scene, was described as a 19-year-old and likely drove the posted speed limit of 45 mph. The area reportedly had minimal to no lighting.”
One factor in the incident likely was that Noe had not been wearing any lights or reflective gear while pushing his shopping cart. This may have made it difficult for the driver of the Honda Civic to see him in the dark.
According to the Press Democrat, after an investigation, the California Highway Patrol determined that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, was not speeding, and was not distracted or using a mobile phone while driving.

My condolences to the Noe family. I don’t know if it would have made any difference or if it were even possible, but as a rule, one should try to walk facing traffic to be able to react to what might be coming directly at you. This does not appear to have been the case here.
Our family is still trying to take this in.. Beau choose his own version of freedom and the American dream, he traveled more miles than the greatened Ken Kesey……..on the road, rail and trail … It just dozenth make sense that he got checked out on a straight away by someone abiding by all the rule’s!
Ty I am Beu”s Father He was a free spirit who worked and traveled
I hope the young driver seeks council after this tragic event. This is going to scar him for his lifetime.
Is there factually a side walk on this road? We have as the family thus far have concluded this is not cut and dry..
Stoney, the Sonoma County Coroner’s office and the Santa Rosa CHP would be the best place to get more information. I’d start with the CHP (707) 588-1400
Google Maps shows shoulders but no pedestrian or bike infrastructure. Just search Donna Dr. Windsor, Ca and you’ll find it.
Who are you to Beu Stoney
Son of Hank
Homeless no more.
He always had a home and family who loves him.
I am Beu’s Father and do not appreciate your comment!
Was it really ‘his’ shopping cart?
Why be factual in all other ways but one?
Possession is 90% of the rule.
Stolen shopping cart.
Are you missing a shopping cart? Or is someone close to you less one cart? Or do you start your day off picking on the little guy? Have you been out to identify, and then claim the cart? Does your cart have a name, or are you just making wild-ass assumptions?
So you won’t mind if I come by your place and help myself to anything that interests me????
Not funny
Really?
Is anything really yours… I beg to differ…not.
How very sad. Deepest condolences to all who love and will miss him.
Thank you fellow.. He will be missed..
Did the cops check the Honda car’s driver’s phone to make sure they weren’t distracted?
Please forgive me for behaving like you. If Beu was under the influence, the devil could have caused him to be in the wrong place.
Breath meditation my son…
RIGHT
The rest will be followed,
So the 19-year old is just a terrible sober driver?
