Emergency Personnel Use Hoist to Rescue Motorcyclist After Crash
Press release from CHP:
On October 21, 2023 at approximately 1116 hours, Thomas Gill of Pleasanton, CA, was riding his BMW motorcycle northbound on State Route-3 north of State Route-36, at approximately 55MPH. As Gill was negotiating the BMW a curved portion of roadway, he lost control and ran off the roadway. Gill traveled across a large dirt/gravel shoulder and down a steep negative-grade dirt/rock embankment. Gill was ejected from the BMW and he collided with the dirt/rock embankment. Once emergency personnel arrived on scene, they setup a pulley system to safely recover Gill who suffered multiple broken bones and suspected internal injuries. Gill was transported by Trinity Life support to the Hayfork Airport and was later flown by REACH helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Redding California.

I hope you fare well Thomas.
LTBA. Good job responders.
After reading the article, I think Thomas Gill is a very lucky motorcycle rider. His fall down that negative grade bank could have easily killed him. I am not sure what caused the BMW to go down, but there may have been some small gravel, dirt, etc., on the roadway itself. Once your wheels hit this material it is almost impossible to steer the bike as it slides on the material. A big thank you to the first responders who setup a pulley system to safely get him up to the road, the Trinity Life Support for getting him to the Hayfork Airport, and the REACH helicopter for taking him to Mercy Hospital. I pray he will heal from his broken bones and internal injuries and return to riding again if he feels comfortable with it.
It is too bad that the accident happened so far away from home.
