Paving Project to Begin on State Route 3 near Callahan
Press release from Caltrans District 2:
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans District 2) and Tullis, Inc. are preparing to begin work on the Scott Mountain Overlay Project on State Route 3 in Siskiyou County. The $2.65 million project will replace asphalt concrete via dig outs and place a thin hot mix asphalt overlay on SR 3 near Callahan, from approximately 0.4 mile north of the Trinity/Siskiyou County Line to approximately 0.2 mile north of Gazelle-Callahan Road. The project will also provide shoulder backing and remove and replace thermoplastic pavement markings.
Dig out activities are currently planned to start on Monday, September 11th. Following dig out operations, a multi-week break is anticipated prior to paving operations starting. When work is underway, motorists should plan for up to 15-minute delays, Mondays – Fridays during daytime hours. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive carefully in and around construction areas, follow speed limit reductions in place, and allot extra time for delays. The project is currently anticipated to be completed by late October.
Construction projects are subject to changes without prior notice. Caltrans and its contractors do our best to keep the public informed.
