Paul Louis Cain
March18,1967 – August 1, 2023Paul Louis Cain was released from his earthly ties in the early morning of August 1st 2023 after the bravest battle of his life. Positive until the end, he was our brother and our friend.
Born in Pasadena, California on a rainy day March18,1967 to Dan L. Cain and Patricia J. Jacka Cain. He was the youngest and their baby.Full of life and exuberance from the moment he arrived. Paul was a true bon vivant who swore he was born in the wrong time, “more suited for 15th century France” he said. Never one for allowing reality to spoil a good time, fantasy and living for today were where he dwelt. Paul always enjoyed the finer things the world had to offer. His passions were many, politics, food, theater, film, and fashion; Paul traveled the world enjoying pastries in Paris, vodka in Red Square, and clubbing all night in London. A master scholar of film who’s in-depth knowledge of all things Hollywood was savant-like. He studied history and law, and spent his days at every museum, art show, or film screening he could. Often he could be found at his beloved LACMA in his favorite city Los Angeles.
Paul is survived by his sister Maryann Istvanyi, and nephew Gunnar G. Istvanyi. A celebration of Paul will be held at his home in Blue Lake Ca. in remembrance of a man who was a ‘one of a kind.’ (date TBA after we are all regroup) We ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Los Angeles LGBT Center. mediarelations@lalgbtcenter.
