[UPDATE: Located Alive and Well]Laytonville Teen Missing Nearly Two Weeks—Family, Tribe, and Law Enforcement Seek Public Assistance

Taya Britton’s missing flyer being circulated on social media by the Cahto Tribe

Taya Britton, a 13-year-old Laytonville teen and a member of the Cahto Tribe, is missing. Her family, her tribe, and local law enforcement is asking the public for their assistance in bringing her home safely.

Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Captain Greg Van Patten told us Britton ran away from her family home in Laytonville on February 6, 2023, and has not returned to her home or school since. There are reports that the young woman was in Ukiah mid-afternoon on February 7.

Captain Van Patten said Britton has a history of running away from home and “initial investigations suggest she is missing intentionally.”

13-year-old Taya Britton stands at 5′ 2″ and weighs 135 lbs. She is Native American and has brown hair and eyes.

If anyone has information regarding her whereabouts, please call the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office at (707)463-4086 or the Cahto Tribe at (707)357-8450.

UPDATE 2:33 p.m.: MCSO Captain Van Patten has confirmed Taya Britton has been located. He told us “Deputies got intelligence that she was in Willits and they located her and she has been detained to be turned over to CPS.”

Glad she’s safe. Hope they deal appropriately with any adults “Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor”…

I’m relieved she was found alive after two weeks. I hope she and her family get the help they need so she would want to stay with family.

Who took her to Ukiah? She isn’t old enough to drive.

I’m just grateful she’s been found, and hope she ends up where ever she will be most loved and protected.
No need to embarrass her with public details, just keep her safe.
