They are now restricting 101 just south of Trinidad to 1 one lane, alternating between North and South. No traffic was moving southbound on 101 in that area for about a half an hour. My wife said one of the cars looked like it was obliterated.

Yep. Obliterated.
Wonder if it had anything to do with the highway construction. Several days of heavy equipment, fallen cones and workers right smack up against moving cars.

People are driving way too fast these days. Not sure if it’s people new to the area from the city, but back in the day people were driving much slower…

I feel very bad for the person who lost their life and for those that were injured. So unfortunate and uncalled for. It’s a beautiful day and the roads were just paved. The slow lane on that stretch of the highway going northbound is still unpaved, so the road is uneven between lanes. This may have been part of the cause for the accident.

My prayers ? & heart ❤️ go out to all those involved including the 1st responders.

“People are driving way too fast these days”

I know, right?

Sometimes, when I’m driving around Eureka/Fortuna, I see people rushing around like they’re chickens missing their heads. I pick up my son at work some mornings, and the idiots doing 75-80 on the freeway just piss me off. I’m like, why don’t they just get their butts out of bed earlier? Don’t they know they’re burning that expensive gasoline way too fast, not getting their mileage out of each gallon?

My condolences to the family and friends of the deceased in this unnecessary accident. Slow down, folks.

Although it sounds ignorant it’s really quite common for people who are vaccinated against covid-19 to just drop dead suddenly with no explanation.

Very sad. My condolences to the family of the deceased.
That stretch does run downhill while heading south, and for some reason people go fast between Trinidad and Westhaven and aren’t prepared for merging traffic at Sixth Avenue.
