[UPDATE 2:04 p.m.] Fire Burning to the Southwest of Clear Lake in Lake County

The fire as seen from the Kelseyville AlertWildFire Camera

Scanner traffic around 1:12 p.m. indicated a wildland fire was reported burning in the Kelseyville area near the intersection of Kelseyville Creek Drive and Conklin Lane.

The Incident Commander reported the first is one acre in size burning in grass and oak woodland at a moderate rate of spread. Power lines are down in the area.

Reports from the scene indicate that if the fire hits nearby slopes, there is a chance the fire could take off in two directions and become slope driven.

There is a chance that a nearby structure could be impacted by the fire.

As of 2 p.m., the Incident Commander is reporting the fire is two acres and spreading at a slow rate. Aircraft have dropped retardant around three quarters of the fire.

Please remember that this story is unfolding. Information is being reported as we gather it. However, some of the information coming from witnesses and initial official reports could be wrong. We will do our best to get the facts but, in the case that something is inaccurate, we will update with correct information as soon as we can.

UPDATE 2:04 p.m.: The Incident Commander reports that forward progress has been stopped.

Great work firefighters. Fire reported at 1:12 p.m. and out at 2:04 p.m. Fast work indeed.

Martin, forward progress stopped means just that….the fire is not growing in its direction of travel…. It does not mean the fire is contained meaning fireline /hose lay around it….. It also does not mean controlled which means the fire is unlikely to grow out side fielines and that the fire is in significant extinguishment process…. Out means completely extinguished…. Big shout out to the firefighters for strong work….
