Prescribed Burn Sunday Above Garberville

This Sunday, the Southern Humboldt chapter of the HCPBA will be returning to the project above Garberville near Upper Sawmill and Alderpoint Road this, putting fire down into unburned fuels within the same area as before. Current conditions are still favorable to safely use fire as our best tool to fight fire. Expect some additional smoke on Alderpoint Road this Sunday.

As the winter drought extends, humidity levels are still high but grasses and leaves are more receptive to burning, which the HCPBA and other agencies using prescribed fire hope to use to our advantage. Additional projects are being planned, including a burn in the Seely Creek/Elk Ridge area possibly next week.
