Laytonville Man Accused of Chasing Ukiah Starbucks Employees with Metal Club

Raymond Lee Martinez

Raymond Lee Martinez

On Sunday, April 18, 2021, 50-year-old Laytonville man, Raymond Lee Martinez, was arrested for criminal threats, possession of a billy club, and public intoxication after chasing employees of a Ukiah Starbucks causing them to fear for their safety, according to Ukiah Police Department Lieutenant Andy Phillips.

Lieutenant Phillips told us Martinez “held the metal club over his shoulder in an aggressive manner while chasing employees.” Martinez’s behavior caused the Starbucks employees to be “in immediate fear for their safety.” When officers responded to the scene, Martinez was intoxicated and “located inside the business’s restroom and was armed with a metal club.”

Martinez had been at the Starbucks location causing a disturbance the day before, explained Lieutenant Phillips, but Martinez had left prior to the officer’s arrival.

As per the Mendocino County Sheriff Booking Logs, Martinez’s bail was set at $130,000 and appears to still be an inmate as of today, April 22.

It is important to note this information has not been proven in a court of law and any individual described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

There needs to be a law that effectively says “If you act in a crazy, threatening way more than once, that the law has the right to take you as such, consider you as a threat and hold you until you display you have fixed your problem.”

And you know the statistics on this how. Just because you haven’t heard it on the news doesn’t mean it’s not happening. And why is it all about talking about cops I guess that’s the story of the day but there’s crime this guy wasn’t a cop and the other people weren’t cops and this guy went after them.

“The idea that blacks are frequently and disproportionately gunned down by the police is an optical illusion created by selective media coverage. If the press chose to ignore police shootings of blacks and focus exclusively on police shootings of whites (which are twice as numerous), Americans would think that we are living through an epidemic of racially biased police shootings of whites. “

Statistics, how do they work.

500 white people shot by cops, 300 black people shot by cops.

Sounds like a lot, right? Except that white people make up 76.3%. Blacks, 13.4 %. And yet, they are for more likely to be shot by police, percentage wise.

It’s not White cops killing Blacks in Democrat controlled Chicago, where more Blacks are dying than anywhere else.
Perhaps you would like to explain how that’s happening Angela, and why Democrats don’t seen to care about it.
Funny how it rarely makes the news.

Crime rates have something to do with it. As does employment, drug addiction, poverty, age, culture, etc too. But mostly perceived threats control how fast to shoot police are. Young males are always both more likely to be a threat and more likely to act out. And frankly angier. Young males are the most likely to be shot by police. And the median age for black people is 27. For white people it’s 58.

So who kills policemen? Who should they worry about? “In 2013, 44 percent of cop killers were white, 37 percent were black and 11 percent were Hispanic. Last year, 54 percent were white, 26 percent were black and 18 percent were Hispanic. ” Maybe that has something to do with how police react too. https://www.newsweek.com/who-kills-police-officers-315701

All the graphs on race have one common denominator, they mirror single parent households by race. Blacks are more than twice as likely to be shot by the police, more than twice as likely to be arrested, twice as likely to grow up into poverty, and they are more than twice as likely to grow up in a single parent household. Same correlations hold across almost all races, there is a direct correlation between growing up in a two parent household and your chances in life. And yet we should tear down the family nuclear structure. That’s like saying because your cars broken everyone’s car should be broken. The first step in fixing the graphs is fixing generational poverty and you can not do than by being a single teenage mother.

This back & forth is crazy & deflective to the article nor our local community. Why is everyone so easily subjectively invested arguing about nothing concerning Humboldt County? Is it too difficult or mature to stay focused to our local issues, local statistics , local demographics & problems? What use is arguing over theory or issues in an inner city? Humboldt County is overwhelmingly majority white with an extremely high crime rate, poverty, drug addiction, homelessness, broken households, child abuse & single mothers, even teen-mothers. Everyone deflect and invest in discussing an inner city with a complete opposite demographic… useless & delusional. See a psychotherapist.

If you think about it , it’s the city dwellers, because of their numbers, that are setting our laws, rules and regs, not local rural folks.
That’s why discussing them and their issues matters.
We reap what they sow. Gavin and Huffman are not country folk.
Thompson is installed by the grape growers. They are going to do what’s best for the companies that donate to their campaigns.

Those companies are heavily invested in race baiting recently.

That needs to be considered because it affects us locally.

Well, Trump had set up zones of opportunities in impoverished areas, given billions to Black colleges and universities, set up many ways for Blacks to improve themselves. The #not my president Biden the pig, has taken these, and tens of thousands of jobs away from everyone, what a asshole. Look at the fucking mess he has made out of the border, along with the coward Harris. He is an evil creep, keep your little girls away from him, and teach your children how bad he is, we do. Our students hate the punk. They see what democrats are doing using race to divide us, and keep people poor. Remember what Joe said about not being black enough if you don’t vote democrat, and he called the Japanese golf masters winner a boy. Racist. He is the worst mistake some Americans have ever made, Trump 47.

Kirby interesting, idk but I researched & Domestic Violence in lesbian couples is the highest in all couples (I don’t assume they’re % is higher than heterosexual couples deadly assaults on police officers) but, many cops die in the line of duty during car crashes or some sort of vehicular situation including motorcycles, including being hit by cars while there standing working, health issues & natural causes like a heart attack & now COVID. The official statistics directly from the source didn’t show that detail from deadly assaults on cops specifying domestic violence.

Theory & immature banter aside…. Hold this violent psychotic man accountable! His bail is far too low, he’s an imminent threat to the general public. He shouldn’t even have bail. He should not be living free in our society. Imagine if there were children in his path or someone elderly that couldn’t get away. Call & write letters to advocate our local officials to keep these types OUT OF THE PUBLIC, they don’t deserve freedom. This is practically attempted homicide, are we going to allow him to be released to give him another chance to kill someone in our community? Does he have to kill someone in order to get him off the street, he will elevate his violent behavior if not institutionalized & no harsh punishment for his foul inexcusable actions. Any adult with “mental health issues” choosing to not get professional help to stay healthy made that choice.

Saying black lives matter isn’t prioritizing one race over another. It is aknowledging that getting shot more than average, one gets the impression that their lives DONT matter. Saying that black lives matter AS MUCH AS all other lives shouldn’t be a problem. Are all you “all lives matter” folks in unison about gun control then? If you really believe cops shoot more white people, do you think they need better de-escalation training? Should Illinois institute a no questions asked gun buy back program?

Math is easy, but logic —— well. Here’s what you forgot to include in your “equation”.

Three percent of Black homicides are by cops.
Ten percent of White homicides are by cops..
Blacks die at a homicide rate 13 times that of whites.

“Math is hard, isn’t it?”

Evidently math is hard for Angela Robinson. Blacks, despite only being 13% of the population, are responsible for more than half of violent crimes. So yes, they got shot more. A statistic that’s been pointed out a thousand times that liberals intentionally ignore. 99% of liberals ignore facts in favor of virtue signaling. Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Thirdeye

Statistics based on numbers pulled out of thin air mean nothing. Surveys of the public show that most estimates of how many unarmed black men get killed by the police are between one and two orders of magnitude too high and the more liberal you are the further off your estimate is likely to be.

Not true! Let’s all take a moment to remember Steve Neuroth from Ukiah Ca . Why don’t we all say his name for a minute! He was was white. Had an addiction. Needed medication for a mental illness. But he’s probably the only person I ever knew that no one ever accused of stealing, lying , or the usual scandalous activity He was absolutely the gentlest soul I think I’ve ever met in my life. He was kind. And would help anyone in need even though he had next to nothing in this life. He was hired by people who knew him because he was a hard worker. Shirley always sought him out when she needed her windows washed! This went on for 30+ yrs. YES WHITE PEOPLE ARE SENSLESSLY KILLED BY COPS TOO! We miss you Steve!

Are you kidding me? Do you know how many inmates beat themselves to death while in custody of Ukiah police? Youre type of hyper racism. completely invalidates REAL racism and it does not hep remedy anything. Stop it. REAL racism was a hella lot more than criminals being killed by police. You know that right?

When I was a little kid back in the early 1960’s my mom was in a mental health facility for more of a benign state of needs but I remember there were actual facilities where people with more serious issues were housed long termed for treatment. Now the option is a short jail visit and back into the community. We have a mental health crisis. Dangerous people are out on the streets and a threat to others. Its time to put some money into services and facilities. Perhaps all the cash they confiscate from illegal grows could be used as a start. You don’t feel safe anymore going out in the world.

For the twentieth hundredth time, Reagan was not the person who created the law nor passed it. He simply found it on his desk in the first month after taking office and signed it. Then the people involuntarily committed, under the option the law gave, left the mental hospitals in droves. After the first year, the hospitals were 2/3rds emplty and they started being consolidated. And the empty ones closed.

That there was no check and little control on those patients after that was a defect in the legislation. Which has never been remedied to this date. So if you want it remedied, then write your representatives. Join a public lobby group (good luck with ypublic safety being an issue with them.) Like illegal immigration, without a push from the public, mental health treatment is a no gain- no glory task for the legislature. They are all short termers under term limits and constructing a mental health system that works is a long term problem on which they are not going to waste their political capital.

I would say that’s still Reagan’s fault. He signed it, he was governor. That is the real issue here- where do we put looneys like this guy, and so many more on the streets of or cities and towns. Jail isn’t right. The streets aren’t right, and leaving them for their families to deal with (which often happens) is also a terrible idea. We need the modern version of sanitariums. Call them what you will, but we need safe confinement for these types. It sounds cruel but it is safest for them and society.

The problem I see is there are really very few Good mental heath professionals.

Many so called mental heath pros are just as messed up as the general public and that’s why laws were changed so you couldn’t keep patients against their will.

Caring for the mentally ill has a horrid history. Any simple search will show you that.

We actually know very little about the mind, no matter what science tells us. Volumes have been written about it but few have been cured.

Adding to my post, in my amateur opinion, deep down everyone wants to be loved.

Yet even if they are loved most don’t believe it because they know themselves and find themselves UN-loveable.
If they don’t love themselves why would anyone else is the thought pattern.

I see this leading to all the advertising to be more ” lovable ” by using their beauty products, better car, vacation, etc.

These ads cause anger from the people who can’t afford these supposed products that make them better ( but not really) , leading to jealousy…..

Just rambling out a complex thought with a few short words.
