The pandemic did not stop the “Academy Awards of Cannabis” known as The Emerald Cup from celebrating excellence in the sungrown cannabis world and awarding the “best-in-class” in their community. Airing live [Sunday] night, The Emerald Cup 2021 Awards Show presented by SC Labs, Puffco, Social Club TV and Dreamy Delivery, announced their category winners and presented trophies hand blown by glass artist Ryan Fitt x Puffco in front of a global virtual audience.

Evolving into an online destination now reaching 150M viewers, The Emerald Cup Festival and Awards was broadcasted live on Social Club TV (www.thesocialclub.TV) – and is available on April 20, 2021 for on-demand viewing on the world’s only cannabis TV network – making 2021’s celebration the most attended in the event’s 17 year history. With musical performances with Ziggy Marley, Michael Franti and Krayzie Bone of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony along with special appearances by Chelsea Handler, B Real and Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Winona LaDuke, the event transformed into a TV channel with hundreds of hours of exclusive content. As with tradition, this year’s virtual affair was hosted by founder Tim Blake and his daughter Taylor maintaining the intimate setting the event is known for with fireside chats, expert panels, video of past events and behind-the-scenes footage.

The Emerald Cup 2021 Photo Contest Winner:

The Emerald Cup would not be possible without the generous support of SC Labs (www.sclabs.com), the Emerald Cup’s 11-year testing partner, who this year debuted new terpene data technology into the judging process (more information available here). An innovation that allows for a greater understanding and appreciation for the diversity and range of cannabis chemistry and chemotypes. Through SC Labs’ sorting process, judges rate similar terpene profiles against each other to choose the “best-of-class” winner for each, much like how wines are judged in similar events.

The Emerald Cup winners are being awarded one-of-a-kind trophies created by famed glass artist Ryan Fitt who collaborated with presenting partner Puffco (www.puffco.com). In past years, judges have used the Puffco Peak while scoring hash concentrate entries, and this year CEO Roger Volodarsky was a judge in the solventless category.
