Fort Seward and Dyerville Loop Road Now Open

Open sign featurePress release from the Humboldt County Office of Emergency Services:

The road closures for Fort Seward Road and Dyerville Loop Road have been lifted. Residents may use these roads to return to fire Evacuation Warning zones. Residents should remain prepared to leave at a moment’s notice should fire conditions change. Visit humboldtsheriff.org for more information.

Remember to check the evacuation order and warning map here. You cannot go back to an area under an evacuation order. You may choose to go back to an area with an evacuation warning.

UPDATE:

From Humboldt County OES, “Due to some confusion, we’d like to clarify. The roadblock on Alderpoint Road at Dyerville Loop Road is still active as ALDERPOINT ROAD is still closed. However, Dyerville Loop Road is open for through travel. Check our map for roadblock locations: humboldtgov.org/evacmap”

I called 268-2500 (Humboldt County Office of Emergency Services) around 3:30 and they confirmed that Alderpoint Rd is still closed east of the Dyerville Loop intersection. I believe it is open north of Casterlin.

thank you for the accurate info, I’m not about to pack up three trucks and three trailers to leave my evac site over some headline. I need to hear it from the right people.
* UPDATE *
When I called 268-2500 (HUMCO OES) I was told that they are letting residents past the Dyerville loop roadblock “on a case-by-case basis. Bring paperwork with your name and physical address and make your case” for returning home. I called two minutes ago

Good news, thanks – I’m evacuated now; gotta check and see if anything’s got something aside from my PO Box with me.
