Police Seek Armed Robber of Fortuna Store

Press release from the Fortuna Police Department:
Fortuna Officers responded to a silent panic alarm from a business on the 300 block of South Fortuna Blvd at 6am this morning as a result of an armed robbery.
By the time officers had arrived, the suspect had fled west bound on Newburg Road, and is still at large
Suspect was armed with a revolver, with a blued finish and wood handle, and described as possibly being a Hispanic male.
He was described as wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt; black flat bill hat with sticker on top of bill, a blue bandanna was worn across his face, black pants, and black gloves with green knuckle guards and white writing on the top, and white leather shoes with white laces with black toe cap and tongue.
He used a crumpled multi colored plastic shopping bag to make off with the stolen cash.
Fortuna Police ask that anyone with information about this crime, or finding any item described above immediately contact us at 725-7550, option 0.
If you locate any of the described items, we ask that you not touch or disturb them, and please allow our officers to retrieve them.

Those hand grip thingys are labeled as evil accessories in California! Pistol grips are evil. Collapsable stocks are evil. Flash hiders are evil. If your gun contains any of these it is possessed and will do great harm to you and others. Also if it’s black, it’s probably evil too. If you paint it pink and put tassels on the barrel it will make it invalid, and therefore won’t harm anyone. Remember Californians, there are evil guns and non-evil guns. What makes me uncomfortable is living 2 hours away from law enforcement in a neighborhood that has multiple burglaries a month and a society of drug addict thieves with illegal firearms. I also live with a significant other and children. What makes me comfortable is knowing that I know how to properly use firearms if needed. I sleep well at night knowing that I’m as secure as I can be. Lock your doors. Get a good dog, and buy a better firearm. Has nothing to with my “manhood”. Has everything to do with my family and belongings being safe in a unfortunate event. If it never happens , than I’m fine with that. You can always scream and hit em with your man purse!?!?

Why are surveillance cameras always in the WRONG spot? Shouldn’t a camera be on a shelf behind the cashier, looking over the employees shoulder, directly at the customer? And please save your breath re the loss of privacy, etc. That concept has been mangled for a decade or so. Just saying.
Perhaps robbery victims should all get together and share tips. I remember when The Black Lightening Motorcycle Cafe in Eureka was robbed, no gun needed, did it on the sly while patrons and cashiers were occupied. The cameras got great high quality pics . . . of the top of the guy’s head and ball cap. The next day the cameras were lowered to eye level.
Store owners, test your security. Do you have a ruler next to the door like the liquor stores do? Can you make out someone’s face on your cameras? Can you enlarge the photos without getting grainy? Do you have a one-barrel or two-barrel behind the counter?
I wonder if this has any connection to the robbery in Blue lake?
