My correct speculation yesterday about booze being involved comes as no surprise. It seems like at least 50% of collisions that get reported here or on LoCo are booze/drug related. Not bad odds if I say so myself.

Has it ever been reported, in this county anyway, that both drivers involved in a fatal accident were under the influence, and what happened then to the survivor? If both drivers in this case were drunk, and collided in the middle of the road for undetermined reasons, would the court see that as a no fault double dumbass?

CHP report has the Ford going East and West. I think they need to make a correction.

Thirdeye: Shideewum is a local Native name. I know his sister. Lots of comments about being drunk. Probably 3/4 of you were all drunk yesterday. I feel bad for Shi, not something you would want anyone to have on their conscience. The other two young men in the GMC I have basically known their whole lives. The person that lost their life I don’t know yet if I knew him because they haven’t released his name. Ya, they were definitely not all traveling east, a few inconsistencies. but the gist of this is, don’t talk crap about stuff you don’t know. Hope neither you or any of your loved ones ever have to go through this.

You want to get drunk, don’t Drive. If 3/4 were drunk and NOT driving, then that’s A bit different. Almost everyone has been affected by a drunk driving death or major injury so we do know a little about what we say. So stop killing people on the road.

DONT DRINK and DRIVE. That simple… we can talk shit…… no excuses. I don’t give a F*** if it’s the 4th and people think it’s party time. Someone is dead now because of this irresponsible individual.

Wow, that was pretty harsh. I in no way condone drunk driving. He is not “my precious little Shi”. I really don’t know him, just of him. I know the others. I feel bad in that he has to carry with him the rest of his life the fact that due to his irresponsible actions a life was taken. I noticed in the booking logs he is not charged with manslaughter or anything of the sort. I do not know what happened, other then a life was lost and people were driving drunk. A fucked up situation all the way around, another life needlessly lost, others having to carry that with them. No need for personal attacks, none were made. Sorry if I offended anyone. PEACE

I never said he was the only drunk one, just that he will carry this with him always. Even if-and I have no way of knowing the particulars-it was the other guys fault, still this is something the three will carry with them the rest of their lives. No blame laid, just what happens when you are in a situation where someone passes. It happens to us whenever we lose someone. We carry it with us. If the situation had been reversed I would be saying the same thing. It is not a guilt thing. PEACE

I now know who passed. I didn’t know him personally but he was loved and respected by people I love and respect. He was fighting his own battles, yet remained a kind and loving person. According to the police report the two vehicles hit in the center of the road, they don’t know why, I don’t know why. I do know that is a pretty blind curve. No excuses. Rest in Peace, may your next journey be easier on you than this one has.

Heidi- Kind words in sad times. Thanks for doing that. I know Branscomb Rd well and it has many blind curves. Not being drunk but being young and in a hurry I have ended up in the oncoming lane. I was lucky no logging truck was heading to Branscomb mill! Drunk driving is to be condemned. But compassion and sympathy cost us nothing. Everybody in Lville area is a close connection to a connection- it is a small town. I hope the hard lesson hits home and saves somebody later on from their own foolishness.

How can a lesson be learned when the mouth says “I condemn drunk driving” in one breath and “poor”drunk driver who will possibly have knot in his conscience after having killed someone. Do we say “poor” pedophile, “poor” murderer or “poor” terrorist? No because we think we will never do those things. But we have sympathy for someone who kills some while driving drunk because in essence we forgive ourselves , saying there but for the grace of God as we have driven drunk ourselves. And that has nothing to do with compassion, which should be for the victims, and everything to do with selfishness.

Heidi… no use or need in trying to explain yourself to someone that doesn’t get it. Those of us that know you know what you meant and your intentions. I looked at the accident scene for a while and I don’t know if even the trained professionals will be able to tell who was at fault. I lost one of my best friends in this accident, we still had so many plans together for this lifetime. One person is dead and another is going to jail and going to have this on his conscience forever regardless of who was at fault. Hopefully this can be a lesson for others not to drive inebriated.
