PG&E Helicopter Scheduled to Fly Over Humboldt and Trinity for the Next Couple of Weeks

Starting today, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) contract crews will be working in Humboldt and Trinity Counties to conduct accelerated safety inspections of transmission towers and poles using infrared cameras affixed to helicopters. Infrared technology is used to determine hot spots on conductors, insulators and connectors which may require repair.
The aerial inspections will complement and further enhance the visual and ground inspections that began late last year and are part of the company’s enhanced wildfire safety efforts, implemented following the 2017 and 2018 wildfires. These additional precautionary measures are intended to further reduce wildfire risk.

This work is being done as part of the company’s Community Wildfire Safety Program and is in addition to its routine inspections and maintenance programs. PG&E inspection crews are conducting accelerated inspections of approximately 50,000 towers and poles across more than 5,500 miles of transmission lines.
These safety inspections are taking place across PG&E’s service area in locations that have been designated as at elevated or extreme risk of wildfire based on the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) High Fire-Threat District Map. If any issues are identified as a risk to public safety, PG&E will take action right away to address them.

Last year when they said they were flying looking for PG&E power lines they just about landed on my neighbors Greenhouse couldn’t be much more than 20 feet above it there is power lines not too far away but it seem like military style maneuvers it is probably best being done in mid-winter if possible and marijuana surveillance should not be scheduled at the same time people might complain and I heard they did this in quite a few places even places where there was no power lines
I hear that PG&E is considering taking down Pillsbury Dam with known structural integrity issues already and the possibility of high waters due to storms in the North Fork of the eel combined with high waters in the South Fork if that damn should fail could impact lots of areas Down river including Scotia Rio Dell Fortuna and Ferndale with a potential wall of water 30 ft or more during already swollen River in the middle of winter time can be devastating Riverview area and potentially most of fortuna and Ferndale can be highly impacted including several portions of Highway 101 Ferndale Bridge and much more my recommendation is to have that damn taken out as soon as possible Mendocino needs to figure out how their going to store water in the coming years for summertime use in their different water districts Agricultural and community this should not be ignored thousands of lives and livelihoods could be devastated

?Well if there allowed to do there jobs and there flying there new bulletproof helicopters something might get accomplished before summer. If you have private property and don’t let them on there to cut the under brush and you don’t do it then any FIRE that might get caused by a natural hazard will be on your head.
Most PG&E lines running through private property have a path to be used by crews to inspect, repair, etc., their lines without your permission.
?My daughter’s girlfriend’s brother’s a lineman for PG&E he’s been shot three times on them service roads so go tell that to the unpermitted growers hiding back off the service roads taking the free power causing power surges and such.

I have ranch property near Blocksburg and there are NO damn pot growers! Sorry to hear the PG&E lineman has been shot three times. Sure hope it does not happen again. Maybe the crews should get certified and carry their own firearms for protection.
