Good News, Blocksburg, Evacuation Advisory Lifted

Press release provided by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

HCSOThe evacuation advisory issued for the community of Blocksburg on July 31, 2015 is canceled as of 6:00 P.M. on Monday, August 3, 2015. Cal Fire, assisted by local volunteer departments and responding mutual aid resources from all over the state have made significant progress in the containment of the fires nearest the Blocksburg community. Residents who voluntarily evacuated under the advisory may return to the area. Smoke and reduced air quality may persist throughout the county. Information about current air quality advisories is available from the North Coast Unified Air Quality Management District at 1-866-287-6329.

There are currently no evacuation advisories or evacuation orders in effect in Humboldt County.

anybody know how the steelhead and winchester fires are doing?

The steelhead fire didn’t see any chopper help today. It’s still burning slowly in the understory. I’m glad Blocksburg received significant help today though. Hopefully they can get to the steelhead tomorrow .
