According to SCVFD, the vehicle caught fire as it was being driven across the ridge above the school on the Samuel Loop road. Folks! This is the reason our community voted to formalize SCVFD and support it/them with our tax dollars! Thanks to all who help in this important effort!

It is unusual to see a vehicle burn up so completely. It is good that everyone got out okay. But… dang!

The irony of a fire truck putting out a truck fire.

Just curious what make and year that might be. A trend in certain vehicles catching fire is always interesting, if one exists. Might just be mice! Kinda looks like a Stelantis Ram from the back, almost like a Tundra from the front…

Thanks! Dang, pretty new, and a high end trim package! I’m gonna guess mouse nest somewhere hot. If wood rats piled sticks around the down pipe, turbo or DPF… that’d burn. The high pressure fuel lines ought to be all metal. The owners were chilling all weekend while the rats went to town!?

Driver did a good job of keeping it on the (non-flammable) road surface and not pulling off into the grass/brush. Even though it’s still nice and green and wouldn’t have spread much right now, this could have turned into a much larger incident had it been drier. Most vehicle fires in the summer turn into vegetation fires because the driver will pull over to the side of the road right up against flammable vegetation.

Fire extinguishers are way cheaper than even an old truck
