Fortuna Updates COVID-19 Guidelines for Businesses

Fortuna Police Badge.Press release from the Fortuna Police Department:

Pursuant to updated guidelines received from the State and Humboldt County Joint Information Center surrounding COVID-19, the following orders are now back in effect for the City of Fortuna.

Restaurants located within the City of Fortuna must suspend dine-in (inside) services. Restaurants may continue to operate curbside services and delivery services.

Restaurants are also permitted to utilize outside seating venues if so equipped. The City of Fortuna wants to support our businesses within the parameters of the order and is offering to temporarily waive all fees for encroachment permits for restaurants to set up outdoor seating areas for business use during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Parks and Recreation department is also offering their picnic tables to restaurants to be temporarily used at no cost. If any restaurant is interested in either of these opportunities they are encouraged to contact City Hall at 707-725-7600.

Bars must also suspend inside services for patrons. In cases where bars serve food as a part of regular services, outside venues may be permitted if so equipped and where compliance with applicable ABC laws can be achieved. It is emphasized that bars which are serving food must do so for each and every drink transaction.

The following restrictions will go into effect starting on Friday, July 17th 2020. All effected businesses are required to be in compliance by Friday, July 17th 2020.

Per the Humboldt County Joint Information Center, those businesses that already received certification to reopen from the Emergency Operations Center will not need to resubmit a Business Reopening Plan to offer outdoor services or to reopen once the state again allows these sectors to operate. Humboldt County is not currently on the state’s County Monitoring List and will not be required by the state at this time to fully close additional sectors.

Respectfully,

Casey J. Day, Chief of Police

Yes actually, we would like to reduce the curve, and stop the spread of the virus, so that we may go on living. This becomes difficult when self centered people like yourself think that the rules don’t apply to them.

Just make sure that if you aren’t going to wear a mask bring 4-6 lbs of heroin with you, otherwise they may take you to jail!
