About quarter to 5, multiple callers let dispatchers know that a large amount of black smoke was pouring from John’s Used Cars and Wreckers north of Eureka in the 3000 block of Jacobs Avenue.

The first responder on the scene reported that the garage area to the rear was on fire. More engines were requested.

Reports from the nearby area indicate that a badly smelling smoke is coming from the fire.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

Now a four alarm fire. Units responding from at least Arcata, Samoa, and Loleta.
