I think each local fire dept ought to have some say in when burn piles are allowed. Our watersheds are too different to do a blanket Yes/No.
Or ban burns altogether when windy?
Every permit ive gotten like say a drivers license you had to take a class for. Why not burn piles?

Kind of a coincidence that they’re in the same area at the same time. I’ll bet they are related somehow.

Thank you Fire Fighters. Especially a big thank you to the VOLUNTEER first responders.
Friday as I drove back from town to Ettersburg I saw signs on the road that read, “ Don’t reward financial irresponsibility vote no on measure U”. That means vote against a tax that will bring $22,000 to Telegraph Ridge volunteer fire department which at this time gets about $12,000 a year to do what they do.
We have six board members and 10 young and not so young first responders who train year-round and are ready at a moments notice to respond to your emergency – if you have a fire, if you have a car wreck, if you have a medical emergency of any sort even as small as falling down and not being able to get up. Without that tax money they will probably have to disband so we the people in this fire district will loose this fantastic service because together we weren’t willing to pay $30,000 a year through taxes.
I have been in business for over 50 years and I can’t recall one situation with a ratio of money to services that is even close to that good. I dislike taxes more than the next person but in this time of climate change where we see fires everywhere even in the middle of winter, like today, and the back to the landers are getting up there in age it seems absurd to me to not vote yes on U.
Also now someone has taken down the Vote Yes on U signs that were posted on the Ettersburg Road. That is so chickenshit but they will still go to your house if you have a problem.

From what I have heard this dept. is run by a dictator and supported by a do nothing board.yes we all absolutely need the fire dept. But giving money to such a misguided group that is focused on there own priorities rather than the community at large. Makes it very difficult to support this tax knowing that the money will be granted to to leadership that cares more about themselves than the community.

If that’s what you heard, you heard wrong. With over 1000 responses in their history, the fire department you are talking about has saved lives, property, and assisted scores of injured or ill people. Instead of talking to bitter angry people, ask anyone who has called 911 in the last 30
years, and see what they say.

Well even if any of what I have heard or the fact your own asst chief doesn’t support the tax is true there does seem to be problems with how this dept is run. Please quit with the self gratification of listing responses for that is the very job you have committed yourselves to do .If you did not respond than what are you there for and why else would we be paying taxes for this service. The people I have spoken to did not seem bitter or angry but rather concerned that things were being mishandled and were effecting the community negatively.Because of the actions that are currently being taken by authority in the dept.If you hold on to things to tightly you can suffocate them this has been the demise of many good organizations.
