Road repairs planned for Gasquet-Orleans Road on the Orleans Side

The following is a press release from Six Rivers National Forest:

Road repairs along approximately 12 miles of the Gasquet-Orleans Road (Orleans side), also known as the G-O Road or Forest Service Road 15N01, are expected to begin early next week.

To facilitate the repairs, the road will be closed Monday through Friday, from 7AM to noon and from 12:30PM to 4PM, through at least September, but no later than mid-November.

Closures on the G-O Road will begin at milepost 3 and end at milepost 15. Alternate routes to get to higher points on the G-O Road include:

• Ishi Pishi Road (county road) to Bark Shanty Road to the G-O Road. The lower half of Bark Shanty Road is a county road; the upper half is Forest Service Road 11N11. In anticipation of this repair work, maintenance work on Bark Shanty Road was completed earlier this year.
• Nantuket Road (13N18) to Lightning Ridge Road (13N13) to the G-O Road near milepost 20.

Forest Service Road 14N21—between Dillon Creek Road and the G-O Road—is NOT available as an alternate route due to a slide and is closed for the foreseeable future.
