UPDATE 4:08 p.m.: Press release from the CHP
On December 14, 2017, at approximately 0450 hours, a 2017 Dodge pickup towing a 2017 Diamond trailer, driven by 30 year old, Brian Escobedo, was traveling northbound on US-101 south of Cummings U/C. For reasons still under investigation, Escobedo failed to maintain control of the Dodge and allowed the Diamond trailer to overturn. Escobedo was wearing his seatbelt and was uninjured as a result of the collision. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this collision. Caltrans responded to the scene and provided traffic control limiting one lane of travel for northbound traffic and one lane of travel for southbound traffic. All lanes of travel were fully open at 0900 hours.
This collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Garberville Office.
