RCCer logoThe Redwood Coalition for Climate and Environmental Responsibility (RCCER) is proud to endorse Mary Burke for Humboldt County 5th District Supervisor.

Burke is an environmental leader with many years of experience. She has spent more than a decade leading environmental restoration projects to benefit local salmonids on the North Coast. As an elected member of the McKinleyville Community Services District Board of Directors, and as an appointed member of the McKinleyville Municipal Advisory Committee, Burke has been a strong advocate for environmental values. She is a consistent champion for safe, healthy, environmentally sustainable transportation options for McKinleyville families. And she is a strong and principled steward of the land, helping protect against sprawl and ensure that new development enhances the community and local ecosystems.

In addition to her environmental qualifications, Burke is a remarkably thoughtful and community-minded leader. She works hard to ensure that all voices are heard and considers the needs of all community members.

Environmental voters can trust that if elected, Mary Burke will be a champion for climate action, ecosystem protection, and environmental justice. RCCER urges all voters in Humboldt County District 5 to mark their ballots for Mary Burke for Supervisor in the June 2, 2026 election.

About RCCER

The mission of the Redwood Coalition for Climate and Environmental Responsibility (RCCER, pronounced “rocker”) is to ensure that local elected officials and government agencies on California’s North Coast take robust, just, and equitable actions to address the climate crisis and other key environmental issues. From “As Supervisor” to “if elected”…

Imagine that…

Go figure…

“She works hard to ensure that all voices are heard…”

I guess so…

IMHO:

Cool… ‘Rocker’ has a gang hand sign for a logo.

Also has a support for the disastrous deep-water wind farm and the ubiquitous no-bike lanes. Only thing they didn’t have is graffiti on their logo.

Vote Mary Burke? Good gawd… NOPE.

”She stated that they are paid less than 400 other employees at the county” at $109,046.
So 400 other county employees make more that at $109,046. That should be concerning to all. 400. And that is just the county. City and state government employees too. NONE of them are making anything. From coffee, to engine rebuilds, to eggs. They make nothing to contribute to the economy. Only Take form it.

Thank you! I have been bringing this up also whenever the opportunity presents itself. We have an elite overprivileged class here in a very poor county that is feeding off of our tax dollars. I call them parasites and ticks. Don’t get me started on the university administration salaries and benefit packages! These are extremely highly paid people feeding at the public trough…

voters should have to read books by these guys: Ludwig Von Mises, and Friedrich Hayek. You will not find their books in any public school library.

I wonder if they have assessed her competitor’s record and values on the environment.

at face value:

From having watched the video of the town hall meeting in which they were presented,

She seems to be an intellectual. A Ph.D. type.

He seems like a business man.

Her demeanor was monotone. Reaching out to her for District issues seems like it would be difficult to converse with her.

He seems on the ball and accustomed to dealing with the public. He seems open and friendly and knows the details.

I think she should stay in an environmental think tank and serve that way.

He seems more talented and suited to be a representative who engages with the public.

If I were interviewing them for a job, he would get hired, hands down.

As a resident of District 5, I would not look forward to dealing with her.

As someone who knows Mary personally, you couldn’t be more wrong about her (perceived lack of) connecting. She is warm and sincere and interested. You should try to talk to her. She’s worked with a diverse array of people putting projects on the ground that restore habitat. These projects take listening skills, problem solving, and a wide array of skills. But most of all, she likes peopl, and I believe Mary decided to run because she cares about people. Give her a shot, reach out. You might be surprised.

Anyone who
wipes their own
butt is an “…environmentalist.”
I was not
speaking about
the candidate.
Thanks.
