This year we are so excited to introduce a Family Zone called CommuniTree House at Reggae on the River, a vibrant interactive space where creativity comes alive. This playful area invites families to explore hands on art projects such as mask making, instrument building, button crafting, and daily tie dye sessions led by local artists. The space is filled with sensory activities, face painting, giant bubbles, and live entertainment including circus performers, breakdancing shows and workshops, and colorful samba parades that move through the crowd.

This welcoming all ages experience is a big part of what makes the festival so special year after year. With free admission for children 12 and under, along with discounted tickets for teens and seniors, it is designed to bring generations together and create a joyful inclusive environment where families can connect, play, and celebrate the spirit of reggae.

The Mateel Community Center was founded in 1978 by a group of local volunteers. When an arson set fire to the old Fireman’s Hall where events were held, a group came together and started Reggae on the River in 1984 to help build a new Community Center.  The Mateel Community Center then opened its new doors in 1988 with the funds from this successful and world renowned festival.
