Days of operation changing at Redway Transfer Station
Press release from the Redway Transfer Station:
The Redway Transfer Station, operated by Recology Eel River on Conservation Camp Road in Redway, California, is changing its days of operation.
Starting April 15, 2026, the past practice of allowing commercial customers with pre-approved accounts to utilize the station on Wednesdays and Thursdays will end due to limited demand.
Going forward, the transfer station will continue to be open Friday through Tuesday for all customers.
The station’s public disposal and recycling area serves as a drop-off location for garbage, recycling, and compostable materials brought in by residential and commercial customers. The facility can accommodate commercial customers with self-dumping trucks needing to off-load large loads.
Materials brought to the transfer station are sorted and transferred to facilities that process specific types of refuse, including recycling and compostable materials.
The following materials may be dropped off at no charge:
• Cardboard
• Recycled paper
• Empty bottles and cans
• Unwanted paint
• Household batteriesThe following materials may be dropped off for a fee:
• Garbage
• Sheet Rock
• Construction and demolition debris
• Green waste
• Clean wood
• Appliances

You can drop off your household batteries at no charge. What about vehicle batteries?
Napa accepts car batteries for recycling. If you purchased it there then you’ll get a refund on your core charge, otherwise if you didn’t purchase it at Napa then you’ll get $0 for it. Or return it to the place you bought your new battery from to get your core charge refunded.
Heads up O’Reilly in willits buys cores for store credit at 1/2 the deposit. So $9 last I dropped em off
