The California Department of Public Health (CDPH), in coordination with its partners in the West Coast Health Alliance (WCHA), endorses the 2026 American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Recommended Child and Adolescent Immunization Schedule. This schedule differs from recent national changes issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
The 2026 American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Immunization recommendations are similar to previous recommendations issued by AAP, adopted by CDPH, and endorsed by the West Coast Health Alliance. CDPH will continue to adopt the most recent AAP immunization recommendations for California pursuant to Health and Safety Code section 120164. This updated 2026 AAP Recommended Child and Adolescent Immunization Schedule will be posted on the CDPH immunizations recommendations website.
“The United States achieved elimination status for measles in 2000 with high vaccination rates. Now, we’re seeing the highest numbers of measles cases, outbreaks, hospitalizations and deaths than we’ve seen in more than 30 years, driven by populations with low vaccination rates.” said Dr. Erica Pan, CDPH Director and State Public Health Officer. “We are at risk of losing our measles elimination status, and we all need to work together to share the medical evidence, benefits, and safety of vaccines to provide families the information they need to protect children and our communities.”
CDPH has also issued separate recommendations for mpox vaccine to increase access for that vaccine to adolescents at increased risk of infection. Because the 2026 AAP recommendations are essentially unchanged from prior CDPH recommendations, health insurance coverage in California will continue to cover these recommended vaccines. If parents have questions about the effectiveness and safety of vaccines, they should discuss with their healthcare provider.
The West Coast Health Alliance joint statement:
The West Coast Health Alliance (WCHA) endorses the 2026 American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Recommended Child and Adolescent Immunization Schedule, as do professional medical and health organizations representing more than one million health care providers, reflecting a broad consensus on the safety and benefits of the recommended immunizations.
The AAP issued the annual update to its Recommended Child and Adolescent Immunization Schedule for 2026, based on a thorough and deliberate review of medical evidence. These recommendations also continue to thoughtfully consider specific disease risks and health care delivery in the United States.
The 2026 AAP Immunization Schedule reflects the most current science-based safety and benefits of immunizations that protect individuals and communities from infectious diseases and have saved millions of lives in the United States. Annual updates are important to incorporate new evidence.
The WCHA believes the AAP Immunization Schedule should continue to serve as the foundation for the immunizations routinely recommended by healthcare providers and guide conversations between providers and families.

Brought to you by Pfizer…
Prove it.
They just did.
How many have died?
3 died from measles in 2025, the first such deaths since 2015, all in unvaccinated individuals (2 kids, 1 adult). The mortality rate is 3.75 per 1000 cases.

Measles Outbreak — Minnesota April–May 2017
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5687591/
On April 18, as the outbreak continued, MDH recommended an accelerated MMR schedule; to provide additional protection, a second dose of MMR vaccine was recommended for children who had received a first dose >28 days previously.†
These recommendations were initially for all children living in Hennepin County and for all Minnesota Somali children regardless of county of residence, because MMR coverage rates among Somali children in Hennepin County have declined since 2007.
In 2014, coverage with the first dose of MMR among Somali children in Hennepin County was 35.6%

…92% is required for herd immunity…
Remember when you thought Covid was a disease of the unvaccinated when you and all your vaxxed friends had it 3 times😂
Some people still don’t understand how this works … <sigh>. I don’t know what’s so hard about it, you are less likely to get covid if you are vaccinated, and if you do it is usually less serious.
There is nothing absolute about any of that, but on whole it reduces transmission because fewer people are sick and fewer that are become seriously sick for a longer period.
Some vaccinated people still get sick, albeit not as many, and certainly even fewer if not for the stubbornly unvaccinated people out there who think they are onto some kind of secret truth.
Remember how the deaths were concentrated among the unvaccinated?

“…driven by populations with low vaccination rates.”…???
Driven by, just exactly, which, “populations”…???
The vaccine-denier population. This is what happens when science literacy is low and their media diet is rich with conspiracy theories and wedge issues. Manipulation.
Oh, you!
Wow, credible medical journal, right?
Well the Govt. knows as well as health care providers – as it is reportable. However, it’s not put out for general public info as it is considered a barrier to care. Doesn’t take being a Brain Surgeon to understand that an Open Border Policy can contribute heavily to illness spreading along with it causing other issues! So not a good idea. Or… as the saying goes – it’s only a plane flight away. Or… you can get your health care information from a former Playboy Bunny(Jenny)and her husband? Fire Marshall Bill (Jim Carey)who preached it caused autism (it doesn’t). Or…you can get you and your kids vaccinated to protect yourselves from this highly contagious disease! It was almost eliminated before people lost their minds about a whole host of things. There is no immunization for norovirus so keep your fingers crossed on the cruise ship.
Also populations of gullible people connect by billionaires, white American Christians mostly, are a reservoir of infection who don’t mind their kids suffering as long as they can make a fuss.
Image Lacks transparency: The image propping up this press release (from Gavin’s politically motivated, self-appointed, “health” thought police) doesn’t clearly state this is an adult or rare and severe case of measles .
Which is typical. More fear-based messaging.
Age breakdown here — https://www.cdc.gov/measles/data-research/index.html
the tl;dr is that the problem is real and not isolated to rare adult cases.
Question for you — what should the government’s role be in promoting public health? If personal freedom is absolute priority, then you would be fine with a TB carrier coughing up a lung on the bus next to you. Or a leper with one arm falling off handling your produce at Safeway.
Comparing measles to tuberculosis and leprosy? That tells me everything I need to know about your knowledge base when it comes to communicable diseases, transmission modes, and vaccine efficacy and relevance.
We don’t vaccinate for leprosy because… news flash! It’s not that contagious, it’s easily treatable, and most people are naturally immune.
TB? Totally different disease class, and last I checked, we weren’t proposing mass BCG vaccine mandates in the U.S. either! 😂
Measles can be serious, that experience is extremely rare.
Tossing around ancient biblical plagues to justify “governmental’ campaigns plays right into that fear-based messaging.
If you have TB and is diagnosed, you can come under very strict Public Health (Govt.) protocols where medication is brought to you and the Health Care Provider must watch you take it. DOT (Direct Observational Therapy). If you refuse treatment or “run away” – there are laws on the books (that are used) to track you down, bring you back, put you on treatment. Most people comply (after education) cause they don’t want to risk dying.
A coerced treatment for TB is hardly relevant to a discussion about mandated vaccinations. (Again, the vaccine for TB is neither encouraged or recommended , and that is actually a bureaucratic nightmare to try to receive anywhere in north America)
BCG (vaccine)creates false positives. I brought up TB treatment only because you referenced it. If you test positive – go get a chest x-ray after you go somewhere and get BCG. Relax!
Excuse me?
Ooofta brought TB needlessly into this discussion. Not me.
The tone policing (relax!) adds nothing of value to this conversation and is giving me mansplainy vibes. 🤮
Correct. And sadly Trump and RFK Jr have defunded the CDC grants that pay for the teams that do that work. Soon we will have a spike in TB cases (tracked in blue states at least).
Not likely… but thanks! I’m pretty sure Trump invented TB in a lab a Mar-a-lago.
The US Supreme Court in U.S. v Jacobsen strongly affirmed the right of the state of compel important public health measures even when ignorant people object to them. Like smallpox vaccination in this case.
You dare to talk about fear-based messaging, when you inflict harm for political one-up games?
I don’t see how or where Testy “inflicts harm.” Do you think Testy is somehow sprinkling viruses around via digital means?
Or was there some one statement you felt was so damaging that it counts as “inflicting harm”?
Intentionally spreading misinformation to discourage people from getting vaccinated does cause a real public harm– and results in real deaths.
I’m sorry the point of my post wasn’t clear enough 🙄
You forgot not having an Open Border Policy that lets in tens of millions not screened – many not vaccinated – some with active disease to spread. That’s a gigantic population and likely the major vector especially when it hits the vaccine denier population. It was almost eliminated before- had to come from somewhere!
Anyone infected with measles can infect anyone. Your MMR does not provide an impervious shield; please look at the efficacy of measles vaccine …especially over time. Not going to touch MMR shedding in the recently vaxed because you don’t seem ready to hear it.
Ok what do you suggest?
I don’t remember saying it provides an impervious shield. Some vaccines have better efficacy. Some wane pretty quickly like the flu shots. You got the right name for your comments.
That’s the go to around here.
When anyone has no thoughtful way to engage with the issue decide that an attack the individual , or in this case user name is a meaningful contribution 😂
I will not entertain your rude engagement with any counterpoints.
Im not sure what rock you live under but I remember Obama deporting more than trump did in his first term, and trumps first term barely surpassing Biden. Trump just happens to be more…manipulatively vocal I guess. The reality is that borders, specifically the united states(and ALL of its neighbors) are tightly controlled regardless of who the potus is. In fact I remember many on the left having their first sense of dismay over the democrat party. Why do you think trump won? People on the left are well aware of Obamas drone strikes/deportation policy etc… problem is trump is more dangerous to our society/democracy.
Rare types get more common when fanatics try to block medicine for their own self-importance.
Rare types of what? What are you going on about, TB??? 😂
No one- not even the hated fanatic RFK jr -is on a mad campaign to try to block medicine.
Relaxing the childhood vaccine schedule (which this pr piece is not about btw) is about informed consent.
The vaccines are still available (but for fast disappearing frankenjab Covid shots 😆) and receiving them- or not – is a decision that can be reached on a case-by-case basis, between patients, or parents and their chosen physician.
Not that big of a deal!
The image shown here and the premise for my OP: Falsely portrays measles as a big deal by using a case of 1.measles in an adult. 2.full body extreme lesions.
That lack of transparency is used to illicit fear and compliance, when at the end of the day -for most individuals – measles is an uncomplicated routine childhood infection that with proper care passes without incident – and, oh how some will hate to hear this: builds immunity 💪
Measles wasn’t a problem until only about 10 years ago but none of you were ready for that conversation
Earlier it was reported to the General Public and was most often traced to unvaccinated folks that came across an Open Border. Harder to do now cause it disturbs some folks’ sensibilities.
Woah man tone it down with the anti-semitism!
Or Steve Miller will deport you to Gaza?
Yeah – speaking of anti-semitism… I looked for my old Communist Party Card to see if it was still good? I think it’s in the attic. I stapled my SEIU Card to it. Somewhere there’s a 215 Card.
I had it in the ’50s as a kid, it was widespread among children, and I was about the sickest I ever was as a child. So check your “facts”.
You had it 75 years ago as a kid in the UNITED STATES before it was ERADICATED here but now people from the THIRD WORLD have arrived where it is still THRIVING.
Are you ready for this conversation?
Please name a major communist country that people are emigrating from illegally. Heck, can you please name a communist country?
the United States since its inception is a socialist country…Elon musk is a socialist most of his money comes from grants lol
Oh man, no shit.
Elon really should show a little gratitude for us having given him so much money. Between EV tax credits to customers, EV credits he got to sell to other car makers ($11B), and government contracts for SpaceX for launch vehicles and Starlink – by one account we’ve already given him $38B in credits and incentives as of a year ago.
Then this jackass turns around and pisses in the punch, first by bankrolling Trump and resurrecting his candidacy from the dead, then piling on with Project 2025 to crap on us with the whole the DOGE disaster. Not only did he steal pretty much all the data in the federal government but he tried (so far unsuccessfully) to steal the contents of the Library of Congress to fuel is AI ventures.
The guy is such a tool.
Rightwingers and religious fanatics (did I just repeat myself?) care not about children suffering from one of childhood’s nastier diseases (and not just children) as long as they can make political hay by ranting to ignorant sheep.
Who’s doing the ranting here?
What a meaningless comment.
you are ranting and so is everyone else here including me.
