First responders have been dispatched to a remote area of Southern Humboldt for a code 3 medical response after a man reportedly fell from a roof.

According to scanner traffic, around 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, a 55-year-old man fell 12 feet from a roof. The Palo Verde Volunteer Fire Department was paged out, along with other first responders, to the 1300 block of Bellarus Bellus Road. The location is a remote area of Southern Humbolt, east of Garberville near the mountainous community of Harris.

An air ambulance was requested following the initial report of the medical emergency.

Reach 5 has accepted the request and anticipates they will arrive on scene at 2:16 p.m.

Please use caution if traveling in the area as emergency personnel converge at the incident location.

At this time, no update on the patient’s condition is available.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

Update: According to scanner traffic, the patient has been loaded into the Reach helicopter as of 3:18 p.m.

I think a lot of the people out there have been there for a long time and are getting old but haven’t accepted that they need help doing things because they never needed help before. But guess what we’re getting old and we need help. Especially men they can’t accept that they can’t do it. Their selves anymore I could be wrong.
guess what you guys except what’s going on and ask for help. Especially if you’re in your mid 60s 70s and especially 80s a fall. Can affect you for the rest of your life.

Kym Kemp,

I’m pretty sure it’s “Bellus” Road, not “Bellarus” Road…

For what it’s worth…

“Bellus Road”…

On the West side of Bell Springs Road, Between Jewett Road and the New Harris Store…

North of the New Harris Store, South of Jewett Road…

Bellus Road intersects with Bell Springs Road, at what the locals call, “THE TRACK”…

“Belarus” is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe, which is surrounded by Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia…

Oops…

Forgot to attach this very hard to come by map shot for verification and authentication….

It’s the real deal…

It shows “Bellus Road”, the road branching West off of Bell Springs Road…

…Jewett Road, is shown, North of Bellus Road.

…The New Harris Store, is shown South of Bellus Road…

Here’s the kicker…

Off of Bellus Road, it also shows “Road A Road”…

Which is NOT to be confused with, “A Road”, which is also locally known as, “Road A”, (or vice versa), which are actually one and the same road, and “both” are the exact same branch road, off of Island Mountain Road, within the Palo Verde subdivision…

A little known coincidence, seperated by miles, that can cause a serious misunderstanding, and dangerous confusion, when things get real, and dangerous criminals are running amok found home invasions with zip ties…

I’m pretty sure one of them was Wade Harris…

Another was caught the next morning, at the “wrong” wreck, that was “cleared” the night before…

The “right” wreck, (the armed criminals’ now disabled getaway vehicle), was mistakenly deemed cleared, and first responders reached the wreck site, before Law Enforcement ever arrived…

Yikes…

All because of…

…”Road A Road”, “A Road”/”Road A”, confusion by LE…

Confusing, isn’t it…???

That gentleman took a nasty fall that could have killed him. I pray he will recover from his injuries and be back to work on his roof in no time. Thank God for Reach Air.

How about we just thank foresight for subscribing to air ambulance services? Pretty sure god has nothing to do with it.

A subscription doesn’t matter as far as getting a ‘copter called to your emergency.
Air ambulance insurance helps pay for it if you ever use one.

If you take safety precautions, such as using a safety harness that is securely attached to part of your roof that won’t fail if you fall is a must for me. To make double sure of your safety it is nice to have a friend with you. Why the gentleman fell I have no idea, but I pray he will be fine.

Ridge strap anchors are pretty cheap and even static 8mm rope can stop a fall off a songle story roof. Just know how to secure the line to the strap anchor with the rope and how to make a bowline on a coil. Knot tying used to be called a life skill cause someday your life could depend on it.

Above a story I would use a dynamic line and harness.
