Willow Creek Woman Stabbed, Deputies Seek Suspect Cody Benjamin Sides
This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
On Jan. 8, 2026, at approximately 10:08 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to the Hoopa-Willow Creek Ambulance base, located at 63 Willow Way in Willow Creek, to meet with a reported stabbing victim.While deputies were en route, they were advised the ambulance was transporting the victim to a local hospital. One of the responding deputies met with the ambulance and spoke to the 40-year-old female victim.The victim reported she was refueling her truck along side of Highway 299 at Panther Rd., in Willow Creek when she was stabbed by a known suspect. The suspect was identified as 45-year-old Cody Benjamin Sides of Willow Creek.[Image from HCSO flyer in 2022]
Due to the nature and potential severity of her injuries, the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Deputies conducted a search of the surrounding area for Sides, and he was not located. As a result, a Ramey arrest warrant was obtained for Sides’ arrest.
This investigation is ongoing.

Well there duddaly do right. A person tryin to turn their life around going out to their vehicle to go to work to provide for the family he had recently found, and attacked in his driveway, while minding his own business. Is the worst kind of person to you? Well you must have had the best childhood, sheltered from all the horrors of this world we all grew up in. Because Being his neighbor was one of the best experiences with having a neighbor I’ve ever had. He help keep our yard clean fixed our roof, the front door, the fence, watched our dog, showed us how to make it harder for people to sneak into/onto our property, brought us firewood(for free), salmon from the smokehouse, trimmed the trees around our place, cleared our property of fuel to combat wild fires, created a defenceable space also. Raked our leaves. All for free. And yes I believe if you have wronged him or someone he loves that he might would be what I would call an American patriot. But Andrew, I can see how you would say such terrible things about someone you have wronged as much as you have him. Guilt is like that. Well actually thats what is happening because Cody was the person who was attacked. Stacy Fry threw gasoline on him and tried to light matches and throw them at him in his drive way. Then when she noticed that there were witnesses standing there watching her stupid display of emotion she fled and in doing so fell on her own weapons/tweeter accessories. He didn’t get closer than 10 foot to her. And who would after she soaked him in gasoline. She’s trying to cover up the fact that she botched trying to set him on fire. And before you get hyphey about her being in the hospital. She was already scheduled for a gastrointestinal procedure before this happened. But by all means climb aboard, the band will soon be here and horses hitched to the wagon. Well be on the old dusty trail soon as Marshal Dillon and Festus get here with the posse.
Too many stabbings in the last two days. Perhaps it’s time for some reasonable knife control legislation to stop the craziness. If a society allows knives to be readily available and legally owned then of course this is the expected outcome. Everyone knows nobody really needs a knife, they just want them. You can slice a tomatoe with dental floss, it just takes longer.
Well out here in the real world you need a knife. I live in the mountains and my fix blade is probably the most used tool I have. And when a old black bear or mountain lion with a tooth ache decides to come climb in your pocket and eat your school lunch and you for good measure, we’ll make sure to toss that dental floss over to you. Have fun tryin to ease that tooth ache for ’em. Fu€[<!n hippy. What this state needs to do is replace the stand your ground laws. At least self defense. Because this could happen to you just as easy. Someone comes in your yard attacking you you do anything to them and you get charged for assault, attempted murder, murder. Who knows. But you won’t have a legal leg if it isnt in such a way that you are unable to flee or phone the cops. Wich will take a hour. Mean while if you flee now attacker has free reign to your spouse children property etc unhindered. Yeah more restrictions. That’s what we need.

Today at about 11:14 AM, the Arcata Police Department received a report of two suspicious subjects in the alleyway behind the residences in the 100 block of F St. The subjects were not familiar to the reporting party and were spray painting a bike. Upon the officer’s arrival, they located Cody B. Sides (33) of Arcata and Sarah E. Schulz (31) of Arcata in or about a 1999 Toyota pickup.
A check of DMV records showed that the Toyota had been reported stolen on 4/2/14 from the 1100 block of F St in Arcata. Sides and Schulz were arrested for possession of stolen property. Further investigation lead to additional charges for both subjects.

A man wanted in Trinity County for months was arrested by deputies in Humboldt County and will be brought to Trinity County to face charges, including the alleged attempted murder of a Trinity County resident.
Trinity Sheriff’s Det. Josh Ford said Sides is wanted for an incident where it’s believed he entered a home, engaged in an argument with the occupant and stabbed him, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant for attempted murder.
Ford said the occupant survived the encounter. Sides is also wanted in connection with a Downriver burglary.

The Deputy determined there was marijuana in the vehicle and conducted a search. The Deputy located two firearms, approximately 39 grams of heroin, 1.2 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 1 lb of marijuana, and ammunition of various calibers.
During the investigation the
Deputy determined the driver to be 35 year old Cody Benjamin Sides. Sides has two felony warrants out for his arrest and is on several grants of probation. This investigation is ongoing.

Around 5:45 p.m. on Jan. 23, 2017, sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on the 300 block of Panther Ridge Rd. in Willow Creek following up on a tip that wanted felony warrant subject Cody Benjamin Sides, 37, was inside.
The California Highway Patrol responded to assist deputies. Sides was located inside a bedroom of the residence. He was taken into custody without incident. Upon a search of Sides, deputies located a hidden handcuff key attached to his belt.
Sides was arrested on a felony warrant for possession of stolen property and a second felony warrant for possession of a controlled substance, possession of concentrated cannabis and possession of a stolen vehicle or equipment.

The male passenger, 37-year-old Cody Benjamin Sides of Arcata, was arrested on two felony warrants for buying/receiving stolen property, possession of a narcotic controlled substance, possession of concentrated cannabis and buying/receiving a stolen vehicle.

But if you look a little more almost all of those charges were dropped over lack of evidence. Definitely the trinity county attempted murder. And the 1/23/17 was the first time Stacy fry tried using the police to settle her own personal quarrel with Cody. 1/8/26 And here we are again. Stacy crying wolf.
Well ive heard from multiple people the threats hes made involving how he would like to catch her in a dark alley alone. And what he would do to her sounds like to me she must have really done somthing bad to him for him to just stab her or if she did throw gas on him I wonder what he did to her to make her do that which is most likely a fabricated story.

Shouldn’t there be some sort of evidence that would prove that cody actually stabbed someone? Instead of the word of someone that has had a personal vendetta against him for more than 8 or 10 years now? Because I know both parties involved and was close enough to feel the warmth of the fire the night this happened, and Cody might be the way he is, and I won’t get into that at the moment, but this woman has repeatedly said that she had intention to, and wanted to, while trying to recruit other people to go along, ie. me, to do physical harm to ending in hopeful death of Cody for years now. And every time she has attempted to do this it hasn’t went well for her. And let me say, it has been more than a few times now. Everytime she’s upped the anny also. Now i know what the so called news here and other sorces have scribbled for yall to read, regurgitate, and spread like wild fire. But what yall aren’t getting to hear is the truth. From someone who actually seen everything that happened, yall are being lied to, and used, by S+@€y F. and others, to settle a long running vendetta for her. I can see the driveway where Cody was staying the night that this so called stabbing took place. And like most nights Cody was wide awake and just getting outside to crank up his diesel truck, I guess so I’d have to hear it for a half hour. But him and another person were at the truck when another person showed up, it was black as coal outside but a light came on and was headed toward Cody at a good pace. And from the look of it took him by surprise and you could see a blue liquid in the beam of light going toward him and him moving away. And then little sparks of light would twinkle and dim out all the while he is back peddling away and the bright light following him. Then I dont see her but I hear the woman he’s been staying with yelling “get the f- outta here s+@€y!” And the bright light retreating backwards down the driveway and towards the shop next door. Now both people had lights and I didn’t know who any of the lights were that I was looking at, until I heard what was going around and later talked to the woman where Cody had been staying since roughly August. But I can say this. Unless s+@€y was putting gas in Cody’s truck and that’s when he did this then it would be impossible for him to have done this because I was washing dishes watching the driveway where this happened. The liquid was gasoline. St@cy threw gasoline on him while he was looking in the back of his truck, then chased him around lighting and throwing lit matches at him. They never got more than 6 to ten feet apart at closest. And what fool would get close enough to stab someone who is actively lighting and throwing matches at them. That’s absurd alone.so either he has go go gadget arms that stretch to over ten feet, or she’s living. Now on to the “well then how did she end up in the hospital” question that I know is next. Well this being a small town and how word gets around. Sta€y was already scheduled for a gastrointestinal procedure before this happened. And friends of mine, also of hers, have told me that she only got 4 stitches on the wound that is on her side, I think left side, but a large incision from below her chesticules to below her navel. Quiet a good ways from the place she was supposedly stabbed.And she’s been bragging about how she “finally did it, he’s gonna go down this time”. And the community’s footing the bill via a go fund me page that her family set up for her! Yall are so blinded by the smoke you cant see the fire. And you refuse to even look to see if there’s any credibility to anything that is presented to you. Your getting played by a con artist and footing the bill. And the blame is being put on someone that has only helped anyone I’ve seen ask. Given me anything I’ve ever needed. Helped my neighbor when he fell out of his home onto his head Cody was outside in his skivies picking him up getting something on the wound calling 911 pointing the police in the right direction and first responders. And had the blood cleaned up and a portch mostly built for him before he got out of the hospital. O and I just remembered this. Very pertainate piece of information. All of this occurred while Cody’s right hand had just undergone surgery on his thumb to reconnect a severed flexeron tendon. He couldn’t even pick up a can of soda at my house a few days before when I was outside bbqin. Now if you cant grip enough to hold a drink you cant hold a knife hard enough to stab someone. The blade slips through your hand slicing your fingers. But I know, I must be confused, I didn’t see what I think I did, it wasn’t less than 40 yards from my windows where I was standing doing dishes after dinner. He just had to have done this because well you just want it to be so. But your wrong. I know what I seen. I know what has happened in the past. I know how bad she has wanted this to unfold the way it has so far. And I know how people react and refuse to look at facts especially in a group setting or if they dont like some one already. And the constitution states that a person cant be persecuted based on their past, roughly.
