James was last seen on November 7, 2025, at approximately 6 a.m., near Ocean View Drive and Lopez Court in Smith River, the alert states. The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office notified CHP on November 20, prompting the statewide Feather Alert activation.

James is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 250 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. His clothing was unknown at the time he went missing. He is believed to be on foot. His tribal affiliation is listed as Yurok.

Feather Alerts are issued in California to assist in locating missing Indigenous people who are at risk.

Anyone who sees Kamikwe James or has information on his whereabouts is urged to call 9-1-1 immediately.

Update 11/24/25: CHP Alerts announced earlier today that Kamikwe James has been located.

I pray that they will find Kamikwe James and he will be in good condition. If you happen to see him, please call 9-1-1 and tell the police where you last saw him. Being gone since November 7th makes me wonder if foul play is involved.

Feather alert. Can they have made this any more racist. What next if a African American goes missing it will be a chocolate alert. Disgraceful. An missing child needs too be located.

“California also has Yellow Alerts — stay calm — which are for hit-and-run suspects…why, who did you think they would be for?”
