All the way from Del Norte County to Marin, taxpayers in ten different counties between California’s 2nd and 4th Districts – Humboldt, Mendocino, Del Norte, Trinity, Sonoma, Yolo, Solano, Lake & Marin – have organized a class action lawsuit against their congressional representatives with the objective of regaining control over how their hard-earned tax dollars are spent by the federal government.

Not one to be left out of a political justice campaign, Humboldt has joined the TAG class action suit alongside the group of Northern California residents,  to take legal action against their congressional representatives over misuse of taxpayer funds being spent to support Israel’s bombardment of civilians in the Gaza Strip. The newly formed organization, Taxpayers Against Genocide (TAG), plans to file the unprecedented class action lawsuit against Congressmen Mike Thompson and Jared Huffman in San Francisco this morning at the Federal Building in San Franscico, according to organizers.

After filing the class action lawsuit at the federal building in San Francisco this morning, a press conference and rally is slated to take place outside, where media from near and far are expected to tune in. Among those activist groups taking part is Code Pink – known for its international political actions and for civil disobedience at home in the US, usually in Washington.

A flier circulated on social media prior to the filing of the TAG suit invites class members to join and seek information related to the pending litigation.

A flier circulated on social media prior to the filing of the TAG suit invites class members to join and seek information related to the pending litigation.

The Taxpayers Against Genocide, represented by Szeto-Wong Law firm out of the Bay Area, is alleging misuse of taxpayer funds. The lawsuit charges that the representatives abused their authority when they voted to allocate billions of US taxpayer dollars in military aid to Israel on April 20, 2024.

One member of the TAG lawsuit from Humboldt County, Robie Tenorio with the Humboldt Committee for Peace and Justice explained that many people in the community may feel that the larger strife between Palestinians and the State of Israel is “too complicated” or “too far away” for locals on the North Coast to get involved or to make any impact. But she offered a different perspective which focuses on the element of funding, rather than culture or politics. “This is why it’s a class action lawsuit – as Federal Taxpayers, we are complicit in funding this genocide, and we want our congresspeople to stop our involvement,” Tenorio told us.

Robie Tenorio, at the December 7th vigil in Old Town, on why the Humboldt Committee for Peace & Justice joined the TAG Federal class action lawsuit. [By Ryan Hutson]

Tenorio explained, “We, the Humboldt Committee for Peace and Justice, has joined with the Taxpayers Against Genocide, and we are filing a class action lawsuit against Congressman Huffman and Congressman Thompson, who have continue to vote to send money to Israel in violation of US law and international law.” Tenorio continued, explaining, “specifically the fact that we are well aware [that the] United States has received very clear documentation that medical and food and aid in general is being denied to the people of Gaza and yet we still are arming Israel, so the class action lawsuit is basically coming together and saying the people in these congressman districts have been forced into supporting genocide… .”

Putting a finer point on the pending complaint against the lawmakers, she added, “This is our money. Everyone knows we need [it] here at home. It’s our money and it’s been used to fund this genocidal campaign by Israel, so we are, asking them and compelling them to stop those funds for that money.”

Echoing that sentiment was another Humboldt resident who has signed on as a class representative, and felt strongly about keeping local dollars circulating locally. Ellen P, who has been a supporter of local protests against the war, told us “so many people in this country, and in Humboldt County, are struggling to afford rent and food, access health care, and provide opportunities for their kids… All while our tax money goes to incinerate displaced families living in tents in the desert. This is not a partisan issue, it’s a humanitarian issue.”

Amnesty vs Accountability

Alleging the unlawful use of taxpayer funds to support what’s is being described as an illegal campaign of genocide by the State of Israel, Amnesty Internation has weighed in on the matter.

According to Agnès Callamard, the Secretary General of Amnesty International,  “Our damning findings must serve as a wake-up call to the international community: this is genocide.” Callamard is further quoted explaining that here are potentially far-reaching implications for those UN member states which are knowingly supporting an ongoing genocide, saying, “States that continue to transfer arms to Israel at this time must know they are violating their obligation to prevent genocide and are at risk of becoming complicit in genocide. All states with influence over Israel, particularly key arms suppliers like the USA and Germany, but also other EU member states, the UK and others, must act now to bring Israel’s atrocities against Palestinians in Gaza to an immediate end.”

Humboldt taxpayers are not pleased with the response that they have received thus far from Congressman Huffman, or Thompson, when they have initiated a dialogue on the subject. Several attempts over the past many months have been made by various activist groups in Humboldt County and neighboring counties, endeavoring to have a productive conversation with Huffman specifically, but according to activists involved in those conversations, common ground was not established.

Ellen P., (who asked that we abbreviate her last name), explained that Huffman did make time to talk with the Pro-Palestinian activist group Humboldt For Palestine back in early winter of 2023, but said that the meeting was not satisfactory, noting that the congressman’s demeanor and response were both disappointing. “Several people spoke so eloquently and from a deeply informed place about how the genocide was impacting them and how it was wrong of Rep. Huffman to refuse to speak out or take any action against it. To be completely honest, I was aghast at Huffman’s response to this thoughtful and heartfelt plea from his constituents. He repeatedly interrupted speakers, admonished their use of language (even debating with us about the definition of “genocide” and “[apartheid]”), and tried to lecture us rather than listen to us. He made it very clear he was not at all interested in anything we had to say and that he is a committed Zionist.”

10 Counties, Hundreds of Members

The class action lawsuit, which has already garnered support from over 500 taxpayers from the 10 counties in Northern California that are represented by Democratic Congressmen Jared Huffman and Mike Thompson, is being viewed by organizers as a model that can be replicated nationwide.  According to two of the main organizers of the TAG lawsuit, Seth Donolly and Anna Marie Stenberg, the legal action being taken could be considered a political pressure campaign, and is one they hope will get far reaching attention and is expected to “spread nationwide.”

Locally, the Humboldt Committee for Peace and Justice has endorsed the TAG lawsuit alongside a cohort of more than a dozen northern California organizations, such as Humboldt for Palestine, Mendo for Palestine, Mendocino County for Ethical Investing, Ukiah for Palestine and at least 2 dozen others according to media coordinators with the TAG group, each with related objectives around peace and freedom in various aspects of community.

Among the group are several experienced rabble rousers bringing their respective skills to bear on the project. 77-year-old political activist Anna Marie Stenberg out of Mendocino County (and from the San Francisco Bay Area originally) is a veteran of numerous civil rights and anti-war movements over the past five decades and offered her experience in organizing the TAG lawsuit group. Stenberg, who was close with Judi Bari during the Redwood Summer of 1990, says she has been arrested over 50 times for nonviolent civil disobedience – including several times for civil disobedience related to Redwood forest defense in Mendocino County – and sees this lawsuit as a critical step in stopping what she and others say is a genocide perpetrated by the State of Israel, and supported monetarily and politically by the U.S. government.

“Legal pressure gets their attention. And we have to do everything we can to stop this genocide,” Stenberg said in an interview before the TAG suit was filed. “This is, I think, a really important thing that we can be doing.”

Stenberg said  “this action should spread nationwide, and other communities should take on their congressional representatives and or their senators in the same way.” The plaintiffs hope the legal pressure campaign will force the congressmen to address the alleged misuse of public funds.

Having seen many policy actions involving court cases in her time, Stenberg felt optimistic about the potential outcome, based on the enthusiasm the group has seen around the pending case. “I don’t know how it’s going to turn out, but I [do] know that the organizing, to have 10 counties in Northern California – as diverse as Marin and Humboldt, for instance – connected and talking to each other on Zoom and working together, that bodes well for the future because we really have to be working together on the most important issues,” Stenberg said by phone earlier this week.

Stenberg felt strongly that the lawsuit could be instrumental in efforts to quell the financial support for the war, saying, “other communities should take on their congressional representatives and or their senators in the same way.”

Litigation and Participation

The group of over 500 class members, with support from nearly 30 community organizations as of the publishing of this report, consist of federal taxpayers from a range of backgrounds who are described by class action representatives and organizers as a diverse reflection of Northern California at large.

Community members who want to be a part of the lawsuit can join as a “member of the class” even after it is filed, so long as one is a resident of a county being represented by either congressperson, and also a federal taxpayer. Being a voter is not a requirement to join the suit.

Some of the logos of endorsing community groups and not profits shown here, attached to a flyer circulated by TAG.

When asked why members of the group believe that individual people, residents paying taxes to the Federal government should have a say in how their tax dollars are spent by our officials, Ellen P. was clear in her hope that the public be given a greater voice in the spending habits of Washington. She wrote back via email saying, “The promise of our political system is that we elect our leaders and they answer to us. That we have a say in how our tax dollars are spent. And yet, from the President down to local representatives, it has become blindingly clear that our elected representatives answer to some other powers.”

She continued, “Millions of Americans have made their demands clear over the last 14 months – end US support for Israel, no genocide in our name, arms embargo now! And yet we have been not only ignored, but beaten by police, arrested, and charged with crimes – all for exercising our First Amendment rights and expecting our representatives to do their jobs. Perhaps if they get dragged into court, they’ll be forced to listen.”

Another member of the Humboldt contingent, Kate McClain told us “That’s democracy. It is our money,” when asked why individual taxpayers should have a say, and told us that the action is rooted in the premise of democracy, and respecting the will of the voters. McClain said, “If we don’t feel our representative is representing us, we can campaign and vote for another to replace her/him.”

Suggesting that a politician could become biased if political donations were to outweigh ethics, and that misinformation has been widely fed to the mainstream, McClain called attention to a political system that allows campaign contributions to be treated as political speech. McClain said, “Unfortunately big money, the Israel Lobby in particular, seems to have had a great influence on elections and representatives’ votes.” McClain Added, “We’ve all been served the kool-aid for 70+ years.”

In a separate but similar and also unprecedented legal development, a lawsuit brought by Palestinian American families charges the US State Department “under Administrative Procedure Act” for “Harming Plaintiffs by Arbitrary and Capricious Failure to Enforce the Leahy Law” which already exists on the US books. In a nutshell, the law named after Congressman Patrick Leahy as written, prohibits the U.S. from providing assistance to foreign security forces which have been “credibly implicated in gross human rights violations”, according to the State Department website

As reported by DAWN, that “historic” lawsuit filed earlier this week echoes sentiments of the TAG litigation, which also plans to call attention to the nation’s ongoing involvement in Israel’s bombing campaign.  According to reporting by DAWN, which acknowledges it is supporting the litigation, “Palestinian families devastated by Israeli human rights violations in Gaza and the West Bank filed a federal lawsuit today under the Administrative Procedure Act (APA) challenging the State Department’s arbitrary and capricious failure to implement the Leahy Law prohibiting U.S. assistance to abusive Israeli security forces. The lawsuit, supported by DAWN, documents how the State Department has created unique, insurmountable processes to evade the Leahy Law requirement to sanction abusive Israeli units, despite overwhelming evidence of their human rights violations.”

Congressman Huffman’s office was not able to provide a substantive response but did reply to our email, saying, “Unfortunately we won’t be able to get you a comment on this, I’m very sorry.”

Boeing is manufacturing GBU 39 missiles in their Bay Area facility. The same missiles that Israel is bombing Gaza with. Glad the California democrats are doing their part to bring peace to the world. Why do the Dems preach acceptance and equality, then wage proxy wars around the world?

No doubt Huffman and Thompson are tools of AIPAC but the Taxpayers Against Genocide are fools of futility and the lawsuit is doomed to fail

But Israel’s oppression of the Palestinians and genocidal destruction of Gaza has lockstep support from the Republicans – what little opposition there is comes from the Democratic wing of the Unioarty.

And don’t forget it was Bush II who began the endless wars in the Middle East, which destabilized the region, increased Iran’s influence and led directly to the rise of ISIS.

Trump talks about being anti-war and putting America First but his stance is undercut by his support for Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza – if he really believes in America First he’ll quit spending billions every year to prop up Israel.

Yeah, Bush sucked too! The donkey and the elephant just served to keep us divided. Those fuckers are all on the same team at the end of the day. I vote right on certain things and left on others, based on whatever I think is best for the community and the country. Government still speaks with a fork tongue, nothing has changed over the last couple hundred years.

This is rich coming from Robie Tenorio, given that Gil Gregori and Robie Tenorio both have a deed of trust against the Southern Humboldt Community Park property for a outstanding loan they have with the Park Board from its inception (2000) @ 10% interest compounded monthly. As of 2023, both Gregori & Tenorio still have an outstanding loan and deed against the Park property accruing interest. How much money have they made off a community resource like the Park?

It speaks with words as well as with it’s actions. I view the government as a machine without feelings, the politicians are just one facet or component, the part that makes noise contrary to is actions.

Conservatives are now adopting the left-wing strategy of claiming victimhood through allegations of “bigotry” and “hate!” as a means to dodge legitimate criticism. Keep this in mind the next time you’re labeled a racist simply for advocating for border security.

Unfortunately , Pro Palestinian groups will always be burdened in any peace initiative by the fact that the people they say they support are (or at least were) pretty much oppose peace in any form. From their Martyr Fund, which gives official “Financial support to the families of Palestinians killed, injured, or imprisoned for violence against Israel” whether that Palestinian randomly stabbed an Israeli child or  bombed a bus, to acquiring and lobbing missiles into Israel despite simultaneously asserting Israel is starving Palestinian children. “Hamas has received arms from Iran smuggled into the (Gaza) Strip via tunnels. This often included longer-range
systems…” And militant Palestinians protect their war effort by sacrificing their own civilians. ““I know from my work with the Hamas government that it prepared well for the attack militarily, but it neglected the home front,” he said.
“They did not build any safe shelters for people, they did not reserve enough food, fuel and medical supplies. If my family and I survive this war, I will leave Gaza, the first chance I get.””

Since these groups seem to get all their claims of genocide from militants like Hamas, their protests are always doomed to turn easily into antisemitism like the people literally part of the name support. To be Pro Palestinian is to be Pro war against Israel in any form and not pro peace in any way. As the BBC article quotes ““They ask what the 7 October attacks were for – some say they were a gift to Israel.” ” The same can be said for things like this article.

Most Palestinians do want peace. They’re just not willing to accept subjugation.
Even Hamas said they would lay down their arms if Israel accepted Palestinian sovereignty and returned to the 1967 borders.
There could be peace in the region if Israel really wanted it.

Most Palestinians fully supported attacking Israel and taking hostages until recently. The whole Palestinian culture revolved around eliminating Israel from the face of the earth. Of course Hamas says they want peace but then only present conditions they know are not feasible. The 1967 borders – note that is almost 60 years of continuous attacks against Israel later- did not bring peace. Yet their clearly irrational demands are parroted as if possible.
There could be peace if Arabs wanted it too. If they drew a line and put their efforts into keeping Israel from territorial expansion. But they want Jews gone and full control for Islam just as much as Israel want more settlrment. In other words both side want everything for themselves. Not just Israel.
The ProPalstinians here laying all the conflict at Israel’s door has less to do reality there and seemingly everything to do with reversing the European influx of the Americas of the last 500 years. Too many are using the Israeli Palestinian conflict for proxy challenges to the US history of territorial expansion. There’s way too much of the left wing and historically marginalized groups here finding common ground conflating of their battles with the Middle East conflict. And, to use it for this local war, they fully ignore all the manifesting (in virtually all areas of Islamic contol) of what they purportedly hate in American culture- religious control, gender and racial injustice, lack of democracy, brutality in government, etc- in the people they chose to side with. It’s more of two faced self-aggrandizing than a desire for peace.
It’s impossible to take the various Palestinians in the Middle East groups as honest in their demands or the ProPalestinian group here as honest either.

And now? In the future? What do you think the 1/4 of Palestine’s population that is under 10 years old will think of Israel in 5-10 years? Instead of repelling the bumbling October 7 attack, Israel laid siege to a civilian population. For over a year. It looks like Netanyahu wants the Mediterranean real estate (confirmed by Jared Kushner), and a permanent enemy to continue his fearful victim domestic politics.

The hate will never really end so long as it’s kept alive and being taught. Look at the US and civil rights, independence and what not for all citizens. Took forever and a year to get past 3/5th of a human, women’s suffrage, Civil Rights, separation of church and state, gay marriage, democratic voting styles….we’re still having issues with people accepting civility and empowerment for all which means someone is out there right now teaching the “old ways” of things 200+ years later.

There has been nothing but anti Jew sentiment in the Arab Palestinian population for the last 100 years. In the early 1920s tiny settlements of Jews around Galilee were attacked. There were anti jew riots in a number of towns. For that matter the Ottoman Empire had a no immigration policy for Jews into Palestine since the 1800s. They were afraid the refugees from russian pogroms would replace muslims in the Palestine if they were allowed in.
Your comment implies that at some point anti Jewish immigrant sentiment didn’t exist. It always existed. It was always violent. And it was pretty much mutual. This latest escalation of violence will not change how young Arab Palestinians “think of Israel in 5-10 years.” The hate has been implacable for decades. Hamas was founded on it. Israel and Palstinians, unlike some commenters, knows that history well.

Unfortunately I fear that might be the only peace on offer, at this point I doubt the justifiable resentment of the Palestinian people will ever be satisfied by anything less than the destruction of Israel, and the state of Israel will never tolerate that kind of threat continuing to exist. I hope for a better outcome but I don’t think this conflict will end until one side successfully wipes out the other.

Not all Israelis support this genocide- or Christians for that matter. I’m anti- genocide. I’m anti-Zionist. Not anti-Semitic-big difference there. The Palestinians are Semites too. The Palestinian terrorist group Hamas inflated the death count from the war in Gaza, including natural deaths and cancer patients in the data — and global media outlets faithfully reported the exaggerated totals to vilify Israel.
That’s the conclusion of a new report by the Henry Jackson Society, which is based in the United Kingdom but named for the legendary Sen. Henry Jackson (D-WA), an hawkish Democrat known for his anti-communist foreign policy.

Men listed as women to inflate female fatalities. Analysis of Gaza Ministry of Health (MoH) fatality data reveals repeated instances of men being misclassified as women. Examples include individuals with male first names (e.g. Mohammed) being recorded as female. This misclassification contributes to the narrative that civilian populations, particularly women and children, bear the brunt of the conflict, potentially influencing international sentiment and media coverage.

Adults registered as children. Significant discrepancies have been uncovered where adult fatalities are reclassified as children. For instance, an individual aged 22 was listed as a fouryear-old and a 31-year-old was listed as an infant. Such distortions inflate the number of child casualties, which is emotionally impactful and heavily emphasised in global reporting. These misrepresentations suggest a deliberate attempt to frame the conflict as disproportionately affecting children, undermining the credibility of the fatality data.

Disproportionate deaths of fighting-age men. Data analysis indicates that most fatalities are men aged 15–45, contradicting claims that civilian populations are being disproportionately targeted. This age demographic aligns closely with the expected profile of combatants, further supported by spikes in deaths of men reported by family sources rather than hospitals. This evidence suggests that many fatalities classified as civilian may be combatants, a distinction omitted from official reporting.

Inclusion of natural deaths in reporting. Despite the typical annual rate of 5,000 natural deaths in Gaza, the fatality data provides no accounting for such figures. This omission raises concerns that natural deaths, as well as deaths caused by internal violence or misfired rockets, are being included in war-related fatality counts. Instances of cancer patients, previously registered for treatment, appearing on war fatality lists further support this assertion. Such practices inflate the reported civilian death toll, complicating accurate assessments of the conflict’s impact.

Media underreporting of combatant deaths. Analysis of media coverage reveals that only 3% of news stories reference combatant deaths, with outlets like the BBC, CNN, Reuters and The New York Times primarily relying on Gaza Ministry of Health figures. These figures often lack verification and fail to distinguish between combatants and civilians. The omission creates a skewed narrative that portrays all casualties as civilian, thus shaping public opinion and international policy based on incomplete or manipulated data. For example, more than 17,000 Hamas combatants are estimated to have been killed, yet these figures are largely excluded from global reporting.

The report also notes:

Only 5% of the surveyed media organisations cited numbers released by the Israeli authorities, while 98% cited fatality figures provided by the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health.

In 19% of media reports examined, numbers provided by Hamas-run institutions were used without citing any source, thereby suggesting those figures were undisputed.

Furthermore, fewer than one in every 50 articles mentioned that the figures provided by the MoH were unverifiable or controversial. Strikingly, the Israeli statistics had their credibility questioned in half of the few articles that incorporated them.

But that doesn’t mean it’s any more credible than his other so-called sources.

Wow! Over 500 from 10 counties! That’s like 50 activists per county on average! Great!

I guess I should have known better, but I opened the article hoping there was going to be a lawsuit against wasting taxpayer dollars on something like offshore wind farms, or perhaps against Eel River water diversion to their bay area special interests. But no! Instead the article is about a group of waccos protesting support of our ally, Israel, who, by the way, were the ones attacked by the very ones these waccos support.

I guess I thought (more like hoped) it was going to be about good people doing something good. Instead, we got this. I must have forgotten this is California, where good people doing something good isn’t news. Only waccos doing wacco things make the cut most of the time.

These anti TAX protesters are on the right track, but they need to stop with the anti Israel rouse.

Human Rights Watch, an organization with a long and virulent anti-Israel history, issued a report titled “Israel’s Crime of Extermination, Acts of Genocide in Gaza: Authorities’ Widespread Deprivation of Water Threatens Survival.”
Gaza depends entirely on Israel for water and electricity — a situation that did not deter Hamas, then the governing authority in Gaza, from launching the October 7, 2023, terror attacks against Israel.
Initially, in the days immediately after the terror attack Israel cut off all supplies and utilities to Gaza. That was not in any way illegal: international humanitarian law does not require providing food and water to an enemy state.
However, as it became clear that the conflict would not be over quickly, and that there could be a major humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Israel restored services to Gaza and ensured that trucks of aid — including water — entered Gaza daily.
Hamas stole much of that aid — and also dug up water pipes to use in manufacturing rockets. It also damaged a pumping station on the Israeli side of the border that is necessary for pumping water to northern Gaza.

“That was not in any way illegal: international humanitarian law does not require providing food and water to an enemy state.”

False. Palestine is not an “enemy state,” it’s an occupied territory. International law does obligate the occupying force to provide for basic needs.

“However, as it became clear that the conflict would not be over quickly, and that there could be a major humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Israel restored services to Gaza and ensured that trucks of aid — including water — entered Gaza daily.”

False. Blatantly. It’s ok to disagree about the war in Gaza; it’s not okay to lie and pretend you’re citing facts.

“Gaza depends entirely on Israel for water and electricity”
Clue as to Gazans’ attitude towards Israel?
Pelican Bay provides water and electricity to prisoners. Would you suggest the prison host a rave? Why not? Those prisoners must be SOOO grateful.
Do you appreciate when the Waterboard, and CDFW charges you for water from your own property? Do you appreciate fines if you don’t play along?

Frivolous waste of time and the lawsuit will go nowhere. We’re in tiny town USA and all the protests do nothing but soothe the wounded hearts of the protestors. We’re not exactly in the national spotlight now are we? Except if we have an earthquake.

So it’s a good use of America’s money? If we’re ready to send billions to bomb a population that is 25% under the age of ten, then we must not have any poor, uneducated, destitute, homeless Veterans here right? We’ve solved the single mom working two jobs thing right? All our State budgets are balanced? Your road is good?

Hating and threatening the whole country while trying to use it’s courts for political action is pretty disingenuous. Not even that it’s dog-in-the-manger patheticly petty.

No peace and no justice for Jews in this benighted crowd. And did you notice the smattering of antisemitic tropes? I am heartened by the comments. They see through the idiocy.

Though it may end up being just a symbolic gesture,
it’s good someone is trying something, about the ongoing atrocities.
It’s not anti-Semitic to protest bombing and killing thousands of Palestinian Semites….

Yeah, and nobody in this group was whining about tax $$$ going to the bunch that planned and executed the cross border rape and murder in October a year ago! Israel has made it very clear “Never Again”. Amazing – the folks that were disparaging people for being Nazi’s – look more and more like the Nazi’s. What goes around comes around.

Right, it’s truly astounding after what they experienced as a people that the Israeli’s have morphed into a modern day apartheid/genocidal state that justifies oppression, terror and heartless cruelty against the Palestinians, including helpless non-combatants.

Oh, that’s not what you meant?

Maybe you should try reading history instead of relying on the Creation Myths for modern day Israel which was created through a deliberate campaign of indiscriminate terror and ethnic cleansing.

The Zionists Plan. All of it. Including the October attacks on the Rave party. A Rave party in pious Israel a few kilometers from the Gaza border? All that friendly fire on their own party animals? Oops- let’s have that war- good targets over there in Gaza! What? Zionists wouldn’t do that? Militant, hard right, greedy, hateful Zionists? Of course not

The rave, insensitive as it was, was a coincidence but quickly became a target of opportunity for the horrific terrorist attack by Hamas and others.

But we’ll probably never know how many Israeli’s were killed by indiscriminate fire from the helicopters; tank shells fired into a house in kibbutz Be’eri to end a hostage situation; and destroying the Sderot police station with heavy shelling and bulldozers to end a hostage situation – but it’s likely to number at least several dozen – is it any wonder Netanyahu does not want a State Commission of Inquiry?

But it’s not impossible Netanyahu (who may be the most evil person alive) knew of the planned attack and determined to let it happen as a pretext to destroy Gaza.

Agreed. “It’s not anti-semitic to protest the bombing and killing thousands of Palestinian Semites”. Mostly women and children civilians. The Jews are losing iron clad friends and supporters with what the Zionists are doing in Israel. Along with their enablers, “Christians” are doing with supplying the means. Hitler and his supporters got their day of reckoning in hell, but the purchase was immense. What makes Netanyahu and his buddies think dragging Israel to hell with them is a-ok? Their genocide is a forever stain. Peace on Earth, good will to Humankind, assholes.

There old anti-war activists just can’t give it up. This isn’t about their concern over people thousands of miles away, it’s about them and their need for recognition. I wonder if they ever ponder why Jordanians, which are 70% Palestinians, want nothing to do with Gaza Palestinians. Hmmm

October 6th? Which year, 2023 or 1973? They were both going at it.

First, no one, not even the Israelis, is disputing the numbers: Now nearly 50,000 people slaughtered in their homes, and in hospitals, and in schools, and in shelters where the Israelis told them to go to avoid harm. 70 percent of victims are women and children. Children including infants. Women including the twin 18-year-olds who two days ago were blown to pieces by an Israeli bomb as they waited to escape the country because they had been admitted to college in another country. Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, the International Criminal Court, the UN, and the heads of several nations have accurately declared what the Israelis are doing in Gaza to be “Genocide.”

These numbers are all documented and verified and represent a vast undercount owing to the thousands of people still trapped under rubble.

No one who opposes and accurately defines this genocide supports the Hamas slaughter of Oct 7, 2023. What Israel is doing is what Israel has always wanted to do: kill as many Palestinians as quickly as possible, level all infrastructure (which Israel is doing with explosives and bulldozers once all the people are dead or have fled), and take over the land. This is all documented, no one disputes it except for the commenters here who have not done their homework.

Also keep in mind that today Gaza is serving as an immense live-action proving ground for intelligence operations, munitions, and strategies, so that Israeli and American companies can more effectively sell these weapons of destruction. So a big part of the genocide in Gaza can be seen as an element of a business plan. This is documented as well.

I am grateful to those who have filed this class action lawsuit. I am suffering greatly, physically and emotionally, by the knowledge that the United States of America has given weapons of mass destruction to the State of Israel to commit genocide on the people of Gaza. Not in My Name! Never Again! Let Gaza Live! Free Palestine!

Thank you, Kym Kemp and Ryan Hutson, for reporting this.

The US (taxpayers)fund the UN. The UN that sent money into Hamas (governing body of Gaza, or used to be). That money goes back to Iran to pay for military equipment. Sanctions were in place on Iran however, Obama, Biden, Pelosi, and the US Shadow Govt. (gee wonder who has been running things?) made sure Iran got the money held by sanctions.(excuse was it was their money – see how that works politically?) The money held by sanctions was used by Iran to arm their proxies! So yes, the US funds Iran and it’s proxies via taxpayers $ and politically. Maybe the US can provide some oversight on the taxpayer money they give to the UN and other countries? Maybe the US could use that money toward their Homeless, Education, and the drug epidemic?

I live in Solano county and these people do NOT represent ME. I detest war and killing, but there are times that it is necessary. Israel’s citizens have never vowed to destroy Palestine or eradicate the Palestinian people. The Palestinian government and people HAVE vowed they will do this to Israel. The Palestinian terrorists DID invade Israel, through illegal tunnels, and slaughtered over 1000 men, women, and children, in their homes, kidnapped more than 100 people from several countries, then bragged about it to the world. Israel has tolerated suicide bombs in market laces, repeated missle attacks, and constant verbal abuse from the United Nations (who,by the way, made the decision to give that land to Israel in the first place!). The Israel government initiated Free Rule of the Palestinian People, and left the Gaza Strip to them, which was a wealthy, and beautiful resort. Also a very lucrative port for trade, business, and recreation. It was the Palestinian people who voted for the Hamas government, Palestinian people who came into Israel in that awful October, and Palestinian people who have been holding our hostages for over a year, hiding the terrorists, and training their children to hate. Would WE tolerate this in our country? Israel did not declare war on Palestine, Palestine declared war on Israel. Do I support the terrorists who started this nightmare? NO! Do I believe that there are good and bad actors on both sides? OH YEAH! But if the Palestinian people don’t want this war, they have to stand up to the evil that is fueling it, and that is in their own actions. Throw down the dictators and radicals that are feeding the hate, stop indoctrinating their children with radical hatred, return our hostages, and sit down with the governments of the world to make peace. After hundreds of years, filled with hate, deaths, destruction, and poverty, you would think someone would realize that this evil is never going to bring them success. So no, I don’t support this lawsuit which, is a waste of time and money. The only people it is going to help will be lawyers, who will get most of the money raised, and whoever the mouthpieces are, because they will get the publicity they crave, Not one injured person, grieving family, or orphaned child, will see a single penny or benefit one iota. Stop insisting you speak for the citizens of this county. I know a whole lot more of them than anyone on this committee and WE stand for real peace and Israel!

Deb Arsich, Thanks for your impassioned comment. Please take the time to look up the history of IRGUN- a murderous Israeli terrorist group, a start of their genocide after the illegal creation of the state of Israel. Carving up the middle East again by the former colonial powers to get the Jews off their hands. The European history of murder against the Jews is beyond gruesome. It speaks volumes about the then and current attitudes by Americans, Arabs regarding the Jew. Hitler equated them as Bolsheviks. Hateful world of people hating, and all for soneones good whether they like it or not. The White Surpremsts are disgusting as usual. The Zionists hate the Arabs and vice versa. Revisit the wars of the 20th Century. And now this century. The open air concentration camp known as Gaza and the continuing genocide there is a stain on Israel forever. Think they had had enough?Israel created the possibility of Hamas! Zionist land grabbing, they are bedfellows with the Nazi mentality of blame, excuses and hate. The US, UK. Canada, EU and all the other enablers of this stain are too. My iron clad support for Israel no longer exists. I’m disgusted with the evil of Netanyahu, the latest Stalin, Hitler and his entourage. It’s a joke to think of Biden believing he is in some state of grace- the pope should excommicate him for crimes against humanity and throw an interdict on all countries supporting this genocide. But the Vatican seems to be wishy washy silent again. So, please check out IRGUN for a visit into earlier Zionist terrorist activities.

Israel will reap what it sows. It will make Gaza look like a walk in the park. It makes the citizens of Israel a little nervous because they know it. It didn’t have to go this way. An immense tragedy for many innocent people. Hope it’s not too late.

The problem to me is that Isreal does not accept that there is any civilians present in Gaza. Everyone is considered to be a combatant. I agree a country has the right to defend itself, but it’s beyond that. The only play hamas had was to try to show how disperportioned , and extreme Isreal is. Not saying that hamas isn’t extreme. De escalation on both sides is what’s needed. And bombs won’t bring that.

Tangled Massocells

It didn’t have to go this way! It’s not looking good for Iran and their proxies! Syria is now gone, Lebanon neutralized to some point, Hamas is done for quite awhile, Yemen is left hanging on to an edge that I suspect the Saudis will finish off with the help of Egypt (think Suez Canal). The Turks will likely fill the void but they are allied with NATO. The folks you sympathize shouldn’t have done it!

If you look at the map, you will see why some feel justified attacking Israel.
Israel is not trying to be a good neighbor.
They are trying to claim the entire region.

Both sides have been consistently responding to attacks for the past 80 years. It’s unreasonable to completely overlook the aggression from one side while excessively emphasizing the other.
Consider an invader taking your home and the moment you try to fight back they say “Now its justified because they attacked me”.
Ironically, this is the same left-wing tactic of ‘feigning victimhood to gain an advantage’, that you’ve been strongly opposed for years.
